I forgot what i voted for whenever, but for time being, consider me funeral.

cant believe ! a 36 years old metal head likes funeral doom metal, cause its so depress and young ppl love it more than old ones. it seems that you have a really young brain man.

I love funeral doom, especially the most extreme bands. Death doom is also great - My Dying Bride and Evoken are excellent.

I enjoy sludge doom more than the other poll choices, but stoner doom is a close second.

I'm not a fan of Death Doom, and Funeral Doom just frightens and depresses the hell out of me.

Was close between Funeral and Death Doom, in the end Funeral Doom won. It just has 'it'. Whatever 'it' is. I associate it with the silence and tranquility one can find in the hills or something, and thats a dream scenario for me

I wonder who chose avant-garde/experimental doom. I don't think it was me. You don't get that much of that kind of doom.

For me the obvious choice would be funeral, with bands like Evoken, Esoteric, Ahab, and Mournful Congregation, i don't see how the other sub-genres could compete (except for maybe traditional/epic doom....)

I voted traditional/epic, but I specifically mean epic. There's just something about that genre that crystallizes what melodic metal should be all about. Candlemass, Warning, Solitude Aeturnus, While Heaven Wept, Procession, Solstice - that's a pretty irresistable list. It's hard to put the rest of it into order. Probably funeral, death and drone on the next step, sludge and traditional on a shared third place (although some sludge bands like Acid Bath are much better than most of the second place), and stoner and folk last. I'm not sure I've even heard avant-garde doom, unless you consider Celtic Frost/Triptykon to be such.

Well, even though Unholy were considered Death/Doom they sure as hell had some very strange stuff going on at times (specially on The Second Ring Of Power) that could be considered quite avantgarde.

True that. Can't see it as its own category though, since it's mainly a bunch of bands doing weird stuff to their music that arises from one of the traditional doom genres. Would be far-fetched to vote for it based on Unholy and Triptykon.

I agree, I haven't heard enough bands that even meet the qualities of what I believe would be experimental/avantgarde doom for me to consider the option on this poll valid.
Haven't voted at all. Can't decide at all... I love them all but mostly the extreme ones.

Yeah I'd like to know who voted for avant-experimental doom, so they can cite some examples. Drone doom is often considered to be an experimental form of doom, but then we already have drone as an option.

Maybe stuff like Dolorian, Valborg (in lieu of Triptykon/Celtic Frost), Brown Jenkins, some Orthodox, Rose Kemp, Öxxö Xööx, maybe even Oxbow if you want to push it. Who knows really.

It's interesting stuff, I like that they have their own language. I wasn't all that captivated by the music though I don't think.

They're tagged as drone doom on here, so I imagine they could be loosely associated with these unusual sorts of doom. But I have little to no knowledge of drone, so you're most likely right.

Well as I said up there lots of drone bands automatically fall into the avant-experimental bracket, it's just that drone is an established sound now so has its own corner of doom, rather than being one of those shaky, not-quite-sure experimental genres. Hjarnidaudi are certainly more experimental than most though. Then again not all drone is doom related so...

Experimental doom according to metal archives

Actually Aarni are the only band of that bunch I've listened to. (and An Autumn for Crippled Children actually)
