but i cant imagine this can be still interesting...though Vargoth's Key To The Gates Of Apocalypse inst bad at all...

Holy shit, I though Moonsorrow's album V: Hävitetty was brutal enough with two very long songs (26 and 30 min long), although they are really great in this case... I'm not sure I could listen to one song for 79 minutes. It might get a bit boring in the end.

It is like listening to album...but the tracks arent separed

That's one of the longest that I know of, and also Kalisia's Cybion, which is over an hour long.

Cybion was finally cut into 20 sub tracks...at least on special 2cd version

but i have just ordered "Tawantinsuyu" album by Austrian electronic ambient band Uruk Hai and the only featured song "Tawantinsuyu" lasting 01:19:25, which beats even Bongripper (2secs but it does)...so so far the longest song ever, till someone beats it again

The second CD of Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner turbulance is technically one song clocking at 42 minutes.

Sleeps Dopesmoker is an hour I believe...I know this because one of my friends started measuring time in "Dopesmokers".

Well, I guess Kalisia-Cybion is one big song. But if we are talking about one track Bathory-Twilight of the gods.

I've recorded a piece (untitled) that is 1:49:01. I consider it metal, though it has been heavily criticized by certain "metalheads" I know, calling it noise. It does contain noise elements, but it is genuinely "metal" throughout. I guess it really depends on your definition of "metal". It has instrumentation throughout, it progresses, and it's heavy (I think).
Of course, as soon as you take the timr restrcitions of a compact disc out of the way, any length is possible.

I didn't know there was songs that are that longs... The longests I know are Opeth - Black Rose Immortal and Dream Theater -m Octavarium who are both 24 minutes.

Why wouldn't one one listen to song longer than an hour? Most people also listen to albums longer than an hour. I see no difference between that and a song longer than an hour.

But i have heard many people saying album longer than hour is "too long"

Albums consisitng of short songs but over an hour long are usually too long. ALthough I love old Iron Maiden I would consider every single one of them too long were they over an hour long. It mostly dpends on the sort of music being played if an album is too long if it's over an hour, smae applies for songs btw.

Well i never judge songs and albums by length...grindcore band should be boring same as funeral doom one...no matter if their songs lasting 20 secs or 20 mins, it is elsewhere...

Of corse I do, its song I like it I listen, I hate people who listen metal but when song is longer how 2 min they dont like it, like someone from us sad its hard listen muisc, you shood listne it and its hard , you shood grow to it and I love long songs and I never ever skip song because of lenght, I always listen from a to z never start whit some other song or random

The longest in my collection is Green Carnation - Light of Day, Day of darkness 66 minutes its a very good song actually, i love to put it on while im doing uni work it makes me feel relaxed
