Anyway, I'd say Sonata Arctica. Not just the music, but also their live performance and the laid-back attitude of the guys. But I also like Nightwish, Stratovarius, COB, Sentenced, Amorphis, Stam1na, Mokoma, Teräsbetoni... This list could go on forever.

Hard choice ! uhmmm.....well i keep with CoB cuz its my favorite band but really Ensiferum it very close IMO....but every band from Finland its awesome

Eternal Tears of Sorrow is the best one
may be they don't have incredible guitarist like Cob's Alexi Laiho but their melodies is truly great

No doubt Sentenced:
1. They are more popular now that ever, becouse they are dead. In some strange way, death makes money.
2. They are my one of the favourite bands

but since its not there I voted for ETOS

Wintersun. hands down, these guys are truely amazing and probably THE best IMO

Sonata Arctica is definitely my favorite band from Finland. All of their albums are great, plus they are an amazing live band. I also really like Wintersun and Finntroll.

Not a hard thing to choose. Like Jester Eddie said; Sentenced. For me, they are the best band. Not only to choose because of the country, but also because they are my favourite band.
Also, Wintersun, Finntroll, Ensiferum, CoB are great, but.... still, Sentenced.

I haven't heard Moonsorrow, Amorphis and Sentenced. And I wont judge a band just because I heard like 2 songs from them ... they still have a lot of songs that can be really good ... so yes, I also have to hear most of their albums first.

I was recently introduced to Stam1na. Very good band. How popular are they in Finland?

@warmen - In Sentenced home page are 5 songs + 4 video(One from old DM era) I hadf herac moutly all sentenced material and its only band what I like after style change

For me, its really hard to choose, Finland is one of best metal countries, each of those bands, I like very much. Stratovarius is very decent, Sonata Arctica has the vocallist who I consider having the best clean voice and Sonata Arctica's music is decent as Stratovarius's, and regarded Heir of Stratovarius, Children of Bodom, nothing to complain, one of most famous band currently with a talent guitar Alexi Laiho. Nightwish has good songs with very melodious melody and the high female vocallist, Amorphis is one of veteran band, they play many genre of metal. Eternal Tears of Sorrow also is good melodic band combined with extreme element and harsh voice like many other Finnish band Children of Bodom, Norther, Kalmah. Moonsorrow is good viking band, I dont judge much about Moonsorrow due to just listening few songs of them. Sentenced is also a famous band, they have 1 song I listened so much time. Besides these bands, there are many very good bands like Ensiferum, Wintersun, etc. I cant choose which band is best. But above all,if must choosing one, I would consider Children Of Bodom, their albums are such masterpieces, cool guitarist and their reputation are most well-known.

They have their loyal fans, but very few radio stations play their songs and most people don't have the foggiest idea of what kind of music Stam1na plays. But they're becoming more and more popular all the time. It's a shame that they didnt perform in many festivals last summer. Their new music video is awesome!

I woud say Tarot isnt so popular even in Finland how other, but about thos ebands doom,black, heavy are underground

Well I think its because power metal are popular in nowdays and bands like ETOS, Kalmah, CoB, Northen, Sinergy and ... are popular, Nightwish because of Tarja its main reason of tha popularity and its why tarot are popular too, if Tarot bass wont be bass there tahy wont be popular, in 80ties it was only in Finland, but not in states, uk .......

Ah, understood.

I love their music and the new video is what got me started......that voice is just so cool. The only thing for me is the obvious language problem, I can't understand a word.

I think EToS is the best metal band ever because Altti Vetelinen is the best singer EVER! Plus he is a great bassist. I also like Kalmah and For My Pain. Children of Bodom are my second favorite band because Alexi Liaho's speed of singing and they have some crazy ass solos. Yeah im goin to the COB COncert in the US on Dec. 1st anyone else goin in Detroit?:maniac:

really close tie between moonsorrow,cob, and turisas (other), but cobs newest album was a let down, so i voted other. Turisasis such an amazing band, i cant think of any song that pumps me up more than battle metal.

I voted for Children of Bodom but also I think that Stam1na, Teräsbetoni and Norther deserve a worthy mention here...

definally Shape of Despair, its one of the few finnish bands that doesnt use cheap power metal *Children of Bodom chough chough*
EToS is also a great band, even tho I just listened to their first 2 or 3 albums, they really inpresed me. But finland also have one of the cheapest/cheesiest/lamest band ever, Sonata Arctica. Finlad has some good bands like Nightwish and stuff, but finnish power metal suck.

Very hard decision, but my nick name suggest me to vote Children Of Bodom...
What's there to say? I think they deserve all their actual popularity, theirs are killer songs, they play with a unique style (Extreme power metal? it makes me smile...).
Live are amazing and crazy, Alexi is great and their technical quality and songwriting are indisputable!
