04.07.2006 - 03:05 Written by Lucas on 19.06.2006 at 14:38 I actually think Samael06 is more right, it is an icelandic word and his description feels icelandic to me. I have a friend from Iceland and I've actually asked him how to pronounce it, and he said something like that. I think you other guys americanize it to much (sry to the brittish guys ) Trivia; Dimmu Borgir is the name of some vulcanic and therefore natural "sculptures", and the words mean something like "a misty castle" wieee

I wonder how Thyrane is pronounced. Is it just Thy-rain or perhaps thee-rain? How about Taetre? Tay-tree? "I think it's like this"-guesses that are seen in this thread have no value to me (or anyone for that matter), I can guess just as well myself. So anyone with some actual knowledge, please enlighten me.

It's almost the same in swedish (similar to icelandic)... dimmu means "misty" or something, maybe "cloaked, dark" and borgir means castle, fortress, place...

Account deleted Written by Spyroid on 04.07.2006 at 22:20 I've gotta ask, how is what you just said much different from what he said? Knowledge certainly has nothing to do with nationality, thats for sure, you just proved that. Swedish is barely similar to icelandic Dimmu means dark, i dont know where you get the misty part from look it up

Okay, when I though about I realized that we were pretty close, so this whole thing maybe doesn't matter at all. But I'm almost sure that Dimmu means misty, at least in Swedish and also according to my icelandic friend. But well well, I'll look it up. Knowledge DON'T HAS TO do with nationality, that's why I wrote maybe. And we're not talking about knowledge about anything now, it's about language. Of course this guy knows a lot more about Indian than I do. You can't be sure, but that's what I asumed?

Well, it's the closest word, isn't it? And since it has the same origin, in the old nordic language, the chance that is means the same is rather high. Let's just forget about this shit now?
