Finland is one of the best metal countries they have so many great metal bands and they have great styles like COB,ETOS,norther and kalmah and the folk, like Korpiklaani,Moonsorrow,Finntroll,Winrtersun etc. but give me your point of view what band do you think is better and why

for me it is Stratovarius its one of my favorite bands, i love everything on it , the vocals (Kotipelto is the best damn singer ever) , the guitars are just perfect, the keyboards too , bass and drums are outstanding, yes i know that most of the songs of Stratovarius have the same structure but i still love those guys;D

Except their newest album, that album wasnt unique at all in my opinion...

Right now its stratovarius, though being power metal, they do some pretty heavy sh**.

@Hellraizer - Stratovarius use do some ''heavy sh**''
Specely first 3 albums, it heas old school heavy power, from Timo era, only one song ''Against The Wind''

I voted other. My fav. finnish band is Mokoma, a thrash metal band singing in finnish.
Too many bands are missing.. Don't forget Impaled Nazarene, Barathrum, etc. Sad that Stone didn't became so wellknown. And what about Swallow The Sun?

Very hard question, a lot of quality metal from Finland, but for me.....Ensiferum are the best bands from Finland, as they're firmly in my top 5 favourite bands. Quickly following them is Finntroll and Korpiklaani.

It was hard to choose between Children Of Bodom, Sonata Arctica and Amorphis. They are very different, and I like them all, but I have chosen Sonata Arctica, because I listen to them more often than COB and Amorphis:)

See, good I didn't vote. Norther was the best according to me before, but now I actually think that I've to go with Wintersun. Damn, I've been listening to that album for 6 months now and it is still just as good as ever!

EDIT: Now I think Nightwish is the best

I was recently introduced to Stam1na. Very good band. How popular are they in Finland?

I'd actually say they were one of the hottest metal bands in Finland awhile ago. Their first album got alot of attention and got them a big fanbase. Their second album didn't do shabby either.

Among the Finns in Last.fm, the band appears to be the 17th most listened one.

I'm no fan of the metal from Finland at all; this kind of power metal isn't my thing but I made an exception for Nightwish. Thanks to Tarja's outstanding and special vocals I became a fan... It's a pity she left the band anyway.

Some bands I do like from Finland are Oz (an eighties metal band), Am I Blood, Sinergy. Other bands from Finland can't please me...

I voted for cob because I like the way they mixed metal with classical music on their first records and I also like their thrash thing they do now. But I'd have to vote for stratovarius as well (sadly, I can't...). But I'd also rank other bands from finland right after them: ensiferum, finntroll and especially korpiklaani. I do also like mokoma, apocalyptica, sonata arctica, nightwish and that stuff...oh yeah: and what's about Kylähullut (since it's not limited to metal)? I'd definitely give them a huge plus

Hahaha no dont agree www.metalfolk.net and you see
Moonsorow, Shaman, Korpiklaani, Enisferum,Turisas those are bands who are amazing and great and what I like, about others folk bands not shore, but I like only those finish folk bands
I never was realy fan of Finntroll because you know thay sing in Swedeish, I know in Finland are alot of sweeds, who speek swedish but still maybe new vocalist make me chage my mind

This is hard for me, becuase Finland most definitely is one of the countries which metal-scene I like the best. The options include both bands I started listening to, such as Nightwish and Sonata Arctica which both still mean a lot to me, and bands which are more representative for the metal-genres I prefer today, such as Moonsorrow. Therefore, I won't vote.
