This is very hard for me, but i think i'll go with Battery. A other answer could be all songs in Master of Puppets, all songs in Ride The Lightning except The Call of Ktulu, Trapped under ice and Escape, Sad But True, One, Seek & Destroy and Metal Militia.

Jump in the Fire off Kill Em All is my all time favorite metallica song. One and Fade to Black tie for second.

Fade To Black, everything in this song is amazing, lyrics, melodies, riffs, the epic final solo, the song fading slowly at the end like if will continue forever. "No one but me can save myself, but its too late Now I cant think, think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye"

"Blackened" to me is the most intense, awesome song in their repetoire. The riff is so wicked. The bridge is crushing, and the time change riff immediately after "see your mother dieeee" is unstoppable. "Master of Puppets" and "Creeping Death" also feature signature Metallica riffs and solos. Also, those songs have awesome middle sections, which is make-or-break in thrash. On a side note, "For Whom The Bell Tolls" is the best band practice warmup song ever written!

One, Fade to Black & Sanitarium for the emotional trip they take you on. Master of Puppets, Blackened, Battery & Creeping Death for the sheer energy and vitality of the songs. They all make me want to shout along when they play. The Call of Ktulu, For Whom The Bell Tolls & Orion for just losing myself in the music. It's one of those. If I had to choose between them I'd probably pick Fade To Black ... probably. -- Some of the newer stuff is good. I generally like the Black album & a song here and there from Load/Re-Load. I don't really like Kill 'Em all too much, and I pretend St. Anger didn't happen. I am curious as to how the new one will sound though.

The Unforgiven ...Not ONLY best metallica's song, BUT also best song ever!!!! i admire the lyrics because i feel it, see it, breath it EVERYMOMENT. i think it describes most people lives (at least of those around me) and they don't even know that...they are born in this F**king Society with it's F**king social values and they obey them all, NEVER think for themselves and grow up to be just like their parents with the same values and restrictions: "New blood joins this earth And quickly he's subdued Through constant pained disgrace The young boy learns their rules" BUT among them, there are some ppl who try to be themselves NOT just a copy of the stereotypical character designed by the government and Islam, they don't respect the values pushed on to them: "Deprived of all his thoughts The young man struggles on and on he's known A vow unto his own That never from this day His will they'll take away" and therefor, he is left isolated by others, all they want is to bring him back to the HERD and his life it is a PERMANENT fight that he has no chance of winning: "They dedicate their lives To running all of his He tries to please them all This bitter man he is Throughout his life the same He's battled constantly This fight he cannot win A tired man they see no longer cares The old man then prepares To die regretfully That old man here is me" BUT at least he did this: "Step out of the crowd_DIO:Stand up and shout" and in a society where "with microwave transmissions they bombard us everyday_Bad Relligion" it's not a small achievement... Sorry if it's not totally related to the topic, but atleast more than half of it IS!!!! ppl in this Society really DRIVE ME INSANE...i can't believe (part of) THE PERSIAN EMPIRE has changed to this F**king Islamic country
