11 Death Metal Opuses

11 defining death metal albums that are a must-listen.

5/01/2012 (or 1/5/2012 for you Amerifags): I present, the almighty sequel!

1. Suffocation - Effigy Of The Forgotten
1991 - Sheer brutality.
2. Vital Remains - Forever Underground
1997 - An odd choice as Vital Remains is seen as an overrated band, but they actually put out some great stuff before Glen Benton stepped in, Forever Underground is their best.
3. Resurrection - Embalmed Existence
1993 - Somewhat unknown classic.
4. Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness
1989 - Undisputed classic.
5. Carnage - Dark Recollections
1990 - Michael Amott later went on to become the guitarist of Arch Enemy, other two are now a part of Dismember. This is a raw, unsung classic.
6. Monstrosity - Imperial Doom
1992 - Intense blast beats, defining vocals and classic death sound.
7. Vader - Litany
2000 - Comparably new, but great.
8. Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
1991 - A landmark in technical death metal.
9. Massacre - From Beyond
1991 - Although the band has a controversial history and gets criticism, From Beyond is a death metal opus.
10. Death - Leprosy
1988 - Largely overshadowed by Human, Symbolic and The Sound of Perseverance, but great nonetheless.
11. Deicide - Legion
1992 - Classic album with some progressive elements, which sadly weren't reused in later Deicide releases.

Fuck man some of Arch Enemy's members were just in such better bands back in the day (Carnage). Their drummer was in Eucharist too, a completely overlooked yet extremely good (10 times the band Arch Enemy is) band back in the day.

Eucharist - Mirroroworlds will finally be released on vinyl any day soon now by Wolfsbane Records.

Furbowl and Arch Enemy are indeed better than Arch Enemy and Eucharist is superior to all three mentioned.

Reply to the 1st line of your text: Good, I've wanted some Eucharist in my collection for a while and if I can get that it would be sweet.

Reply to the 2nd line: ...Arch Enemy is better than Arch Enemy??? I always thought that Arch Enemy was never quite as good as Arch Enemy, to be honest.

Oh yeah, Eucharist. Great stuff.

I should make a sequel to this list with more comed-ay.
