I was sad to see not much praise for Pantera. But thewn again can you really qualify them as thrash?

have you ever tried listening to "cowboys from hell"? for me that's one of my all time favorite thrash albums...listen to song "domination"or "heresy"...i know after this album they became extreme but always close to thrash roots...btw try song "strength beyond strength" a extreme classic and very thrashy

Probably Metallica. They're one of the bands which got me into Metal and has always been the most important band for me, they mean so much. I wouldn't be the person that I am today without them.

But if we don't give a fuck about how they've affected me I choose Slayer without doubt. Three words: Reign. In. Blood.

Mmm, strange you reckon it this way since Testament released only one brilliant album (The Legacy) one half decent album (The New Order) and one very mediocre and IMO even subpar album (Practice What You Preach) in the 80s.

and

Pantera released NO thrash albums in the 80s, their first thrash albums was released in the 90s. However, I would consider them one of the best, probably even the best 90s thrash band.

That's what it says, right?
Only The Legacy is brilliant, the rest is subpar to average at best. The New Order could have been great, but is so immensely flawed, only half of it is great the rest is a true snorefest.

"The Legacy" is fantastic, no doubts! But what about "The New Order", "Practice What You Preach?" or "Souls Of Black"? There are awesome!!

Exodus. Because they were the more atmospheric of the bands at that time. And I think maybe that Venom should be called Thrash because just because you have an album called "Black Metal" doesn't make you Black Metal. They were Thrash.

1. Metallica
I love this band, this is the band that got me into listening metal, and their earlier stuff really kicks ass. You can find great combinations of heavy, thrash and speed in some of their songs.
2. Megadeth
'Risk' kinda broke my heart... But when I remember Rust In Peace... I don't know, it's hard to call this my second favorite thrash band, I'd say it could share the first place with Metallica...
3. Slayer
I have been listening this band for a pretty short time, but I think they're great. What I especially like about them are fast riffs with 16thnotes and crazy rhythms. South Of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss kick ass, but Reign In Blood is a fucking masterpiece.

Thinks it stands between Slayer and Metallica.
Slayer is good cause they havent changed their style like Metallica did and you can always get what you want when buying a Slayer-album and Metallica, well, hard to say nothing more then that i love their first three albums and it's probably the best three in the world
So i'll say Metallica
