I've noticed Japan has one of the most notable avant-garde metal scenes. Along with their neoclassical/speed/power metal scene, it seems to be their main metal scene. So, of all of these different bands, which do you consider the best? My personal favorite is Dir En Grey.

Japan is beautifully insane if you know to look in the right places. Midori and Melt-Banana aren't exactly "metal", but goddamn do they deliver on intensity of insanity.

Do you know where I can find any Midori songs?

I remember finding a full album stream for あらためまして、はじめまして、ミドリです。 once (Hello everyone, nice to meet you, we are Midori) but it was really hard to find and I can't seem to locate it now. This is all I've got unfortunately, though I feel it's a good example of what these guys do, chaotic hardcore jazz-punk: https://vimeo.com/104563003

(Also note the music starts about a minute in)

I went with Sigh out of the poll options because I really like their Imaginary Sonicsape album, it's one of the more catchy metal albums with harsh vocals I know of.

That said, Gonin-ish, or 五人一首 are my personal favorites, it took a while to really get what was going on in the music, but once I did there was a lot to appreciate, many interweaving melody lines and shifts in tone kept it engaging after many listens.

You know I did put an other option, so unless Other happens to be a Japanese band I've never heard of, you could have selected that.
