While listening to a boatload of sludge/post-metal, I have come to the realization that the bands in this genre are one of three things:

A) Cult Of Luna worshipers
B) Isis worshipers
C) (A + B) = Rosetta worshipers

This is nice. Electronica, programming and samples enhance the overall vibe of the album.

Someone recommended this, who was it again? I forgot...and I apologize.

Then I guess I have you to thank as well! This is probably the best album in its genre released so far this year, with Amniac's debut coming a close second for me.

I tried it. At least 4 times. The production killed it for me. Now you just made me gonna try it for a 5th time...stay tuned...

Haha production is everything in post-metal, that's for sure. I think that's the main flaw with Amniac; the songs themselves are pretty awesome, though, if I had to be honest.

I've heard plenty of post- bands which occupy the same recognizable sounds as the genre's leaders, but rarely are they such obvious copies - this is ridiculously similar to Cult of Luna, right down to the album title and artwork. I mean I like it a fair bit, but then again I like Cult of Luna a lot so it's kinda expected. Not quite sure if they have enough about them to stand by themselves though
