Behemoth is among the leaders of the Polish Extreme Metal scene along with such enduring acts as Vader and Graveland. Throughout their colorful career Behemoth has morphed from their primitive Black Metal beginnings into the devastating, occult influenced Death Metal band that we know them to be today. As with their previous records, Behemoth's 'The Apostasy' brings us another slab of solid Death Metal, while not being too different, but not too similar, to their earlier works.

Be Without Fear is by far and away the stand out on this album.

A great album, with some truly irresistible guitar work that could only come from the hands of Nergal and co. Only thing that annoys me slightly is Nergal's vocals, which never really change.

Not as strong as Demigod, although its nice to hear that the annoying vocal production on Demigod was ditched. This is definitely a more groove orientated album with songs like 'Be Without Fear', 'Libertherme' and 'Inner Sanctum' especially. A very good album, the same formula as always but original ideas also thrown in.

Their Best album by far

Have to disagree, for me their best was Satanica. This album is one of their weakest, so plain and unmemorable. Not saying it's a bad album, cuz I do quite enjoy all of their discography, but this would definitely be towards the bottom of the list for me.

(had me a Marcel moment on this one )

well, mid-era Behemoth when they were purely black/death, which of course Satanica belongs to, is vastly superior to their black metal period and their death metal period. Satanica, Thelema 6, and Zos Kia Cultus above anything else they released.

Oh fasho! This is definitely one of those areas of metal where you and I are 100% on the same page about.

Count me in as well. Zos Kia Cultus being my favorite Behemoth album easily (but those other two are fine stuff as well).

I promised to go into MSA10 with an open mind. Objective: Listen to every album up for nomination in each category, and make an informed decision. I hadn't listed to much Behemoth before this, and coming to see that they had 3 albums within death metal made me think that this band had to be a frontrunner for this category. How I was mistaken. I listened to every album and I have to say that Behemoth was the least liked with this particular album coming in dead last for the category.

Just an opinion, obviously, and for those who like this band, cool. I, personally, couldn't get into it. Had to give my vote to Communion for the death metal category.
