I've been lurking around MS for a good 12 months prior to signing up, and I thought it was about time I did. xD

My two favourite styles of metal are thrash and prog. So if I could pick a favourite band for each genre, it would be Metallica and Dream Theater.

I've only just noticed this post so I've decided to introduce myself now ; even though I've been posting eslewhere for a while now. I'm Francois a half French, half English student who is currently living in the UK. I'm currently researching on my thesis involving the evolution of Vampires and Zombies in popular culture. I've been listening to metal for many years now but have never joined a metal forum before for some odd reason. My favorite bands are Metallica and Slayer (but the old periods mainly). I'm into other thrash metal bands such as Testament, Overkill or Kreator and love the swedish melodic death metal scene, especially bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy or Soilwork. I consider myself to have a very eclectic musical taste and I try to listen to everything from one given genre. Appart from metal, I also love 70's blues and hard rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger, ZZ Top...), many rock bands (Nirvana, Bush, Cranberries...) a lot of punk, as I've always been inspired by the mouvement (favorite punk bands (Ramones, Misfits, Rancid...), I also like some soft stuff like Norah Jones, Alela Diane, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash...and a bit of electro (Prodigy, Apollo 440, Chemical Brothers...). As you can see my musical taste is extremely large but metal covers the most of my daily listenings and has become a part of my life and has contributed in making me what I am today.

I hope I will have many good times on this website.
