If Elder have a lesson for their listeners in Lore, it's to keep on moving. There isn't anything profound in this, they'll just never stop for long and lay a riff to rest in a stagnant position, leaving it idle to overstay its welcome. Ineffectual repetition is skilfully bypassed, and, consequently, their third full-length effort features five elongated tracks with a high level of stoner metal detail and continuity.

Great album. There's a lot of delicate, nicely-tuned textures here which complement the instrumentation rather than ruin it, and the guitar work's experimentation on songs like the title track and closer 'Spirit at Aphelion' is well implemented. The thing which drags the quality down for me a bit is the vocal work, which for the most part I found underwhelming. There isn't that much vocal input, and the majority of the album is down to instrumental progress, but when the vocals are there, they just don't add anything special or memorable to make me warrant a higher rating. Nonetheless, the album is fluent and consistent, if a little too long at times.

One of my favourite albums in recent years.
Even though every song is quite long, it manages to not tire me for a second and flows easily. I love the implementation of melodic riffs and interludes that's why I prefer it to Dead Roots Stirring.

Revisiting this one cos I'm seeing Elder tomorrow - I really hope they play something off of it (I would be elated if it was the title track), I feel like as great as they've been before and after, they found a real sweet spot here. The song Lore is a full-out masterpiece, particularly the second half

This is one of the finest records I have ever heard! Setting the bar high for production values, it definitely has stepped towards perfecting stoner doom with psych influences that help build a very colorful and dynamic journey throughout the album! (the album cover is also colorful, isn't it? Perfect!)

The more I listen to this album, the more the title track rises up my all-time favourite song list, and by this point it genuinely might have the number 1 spot - no song so reliably enchants me. I saw them do it live last week - one of the best gigs I've been to

The title track is by far the stand-out on this album, with the last few minutes of the track being the best the band has ever written.
