aright, so how do i describe this band?
its a strange mixture of the following bands:
arch enemy
lamb of god
pantera
mixed in with some other strange influences.
call it a supergroup. i know, i know what you're thinking. another one of those lame supergroups like Hellyeah or other bands. but unlike other supergroups that had members of well established bands, these guys weren't famous. the only exception being W.A.S.P.
on other forums i'm on, its people who either HATE them, or havent' heard of em. so lets see what you guys think of em.
sure, they have some poppish touches to them, but i think they are more grove than pop. a lot of their riffs are really catchy(think pantera), but are also very heavy and sludge hammer type riffs(think arch enemy). with random spoken lyrics that tie in with cleans and growls(think lamb of god)...
actually, their vocalist reminds me a lot Phil Anselmo. you know how phil has that very macho preppy attitude? well, their vocalist has the same stuff going for it...
they only released one album in 2007, and they already have 4 singles. its weird...

To mainstream. Their first album ruled. Then they blew up and now my sister listens to them and their all I hear on the radio.

Written by [user id=101272] on 24.07.2013 at 09:19 Some bands are better live than on recording. But I've never seen them live so I can't comment on whether these guys are better live vs. recording.  I listened to, and quite enjoyed, their first 2 albums but haven't listened to American Capitalist or the latest album so no clue what they are like.

Admittedly, these guys seem to be the latest victims of thisbandsucksbecauseitsthecoolthingtodorightnowinthemetalworld-itis; much like SlipknoT has suffered from for the majority of their career. *shrug*

Just like Slipknot doesn't give a fuck about those pantyheads who shot lame bullets in the air as "generic, radio friendly crap, problem with the drums and heavy guitar tones and kinda shit", it's same with FFDP. In my honest opinion, these guys are pretty good with their records except the "American Capitalist" where half of their videos were all about whores dancing around their black cars( that was lame!). Otherwise, I find their music pretty enjoyable no doubt about it. Please, stop being pretentious when you see the names like FFDP, Hatebreed, Slipknot or Static X.

If these guys are suppose to be a 'groove' act, couldn't feel any of it. Just your generic wannabe tough guy cliched imagery as mentioned. Saw these guys last week and I was probably the only one not standing up. I think the guy nearby me was pissed off at me for sitting. Oh well, I wasn't there to see them. I guess they're alright if you're thirteen...

I generally hate groove metal, but I like FFDP more than most groove metal bands because they've got some catchy melodies and better vocals. Still, the band is pretty inane, the lyrics are terrible and most the songs sound the same. The biggest turnoff for me is their hyper-macho image, though for making this video I have some respect for them.

Most of the above cons about FFDP are true for me too. However, I did like "The Way Of The Fist" for the most part and I really like "War Is The Answer" and their cover of "Bad Company" by Bad Company.
