Edguy have grown over the years from being a young metal band, to one of the best power metal bands in the world, to a band with a frontman with a huge ego that thinks anything with the Edguy name on it will be lapped up like gold dust. Fucking With F*** is certainly no gold dust.

This is a double live album recorded in São Paulo, Brazil and showcases absolutely no good side of Edguy at all. The band have recently put out two bland, mediocre albums, but Fucking With F*** was recorded after the Rocket Ride album. It contains a lot of songs from that album, but also frustratingly the songs from the better albums are the blandest ones from them.

The band play well, although Tobi's vocals do seem to waver in a few places, and certainly before the end of the hour and forty minute marathon his voice does start to become terribly tedious. This is not helped by in between each song he is making the audience cheer and follow his lead and all the other tricks that have been done by Rob Halford and many before for years and years. It's always good to hear the audience, and they are certainly in fine voice here, but Tobi never sounds comfortable on stage. He always sounds desperate to keep the noise rolling for the live recording, as if the louder they shout the more sales the album will rake in. Power metal is supposed to be fun with all the sing-alongs, but it seems like each song the audience are being hounded into doing something.

If an Edguy fan was set the task of writing up a live setlist, it would look nothing like this. Normally you can say Album X is still one that will please the fanatics, but even the most hardcore Edguy fans will probably have a hard time making themselves like Fucking With F***. There is simply too much of it. One disc would have been enough with less fooling around with the audience and just a selection of the strongest songs.

Okay, so there are some good songs on here such as "Babylon" and "Tears Of A Mandrake", but have a look at this list of songs and try not to wonder why they missed out some of your favourites. Looking over the last few years, it seems Edguy have moved away from power metal into bland mediocrity, and this is most evident on this live recording here.

I only ventured in as the album title was so incredibly lame... pretty funny to see people defending lame, let alone flying off the handle about it.

personally, i think it's "Fucking with FAIL."

Meh, everyone has their own opinion. I actually loved the DVD, and the last two albums released by Edguy.

your commitment and conviction is every bit as admirable as your taste in music is not.

What about "Down to the Devil", "All the Clowns", The Headless Game", "Hallowed", "Falling Down", "Out of Control", "Walk on Fighting", etc???
Are those songs forgotten by Tobias?

Have you ever heard each concert has limited setlist?

unless it is Manowar's Guiness World Record breaking attempt with 8 hours or what lasting gig

Well for instance i only missing Kingdom and Pharaoh (yes, those mentioned by juanopereira are good, but i can live without them), while both those songs are a bit long for live performances (though they played Pharaoh in February in Prague)...i find the setlist very good - Vain Glory Opera (best song) is there, Land Of The Miracle (best ballad) is there, Tears Of A Mandrake is there...if I blame something from this DVD, it would be sound (sounds somehow "artificial" to me - from youtube videos i have watched)

but what i have noticed from vids (and from the live performance i have seen) what i love - i would swear Tobi's eyes are glittering every time, when he summons crowd and they respond...and i strongly believe this is the meaning of doing music - enjoy it by whole heart and have good feeling from it...not to earn money, not to create "intelectual" music at all costs...

You know what? I completely agree with this review. When I heard Rocket Ride I didn't know if to laugh or cry, and it's getting worse and worse. Not knowing how to crash the American market, they've dumped their European fan base (and from an interview I caught, Tobsboy couldn't give rats arse about it) and gone all Kyoto blooming Motel. This is probably the only way they could even dream of having a chance in the US. So here comes the make up and hair ironed at 90°C, in come the screaming 14 year old girls (and their screamo hormones) and buckets of money. The only thing Toby is screwing is his ego and his bank account...Fucking with Fire...right...he's probably terrified of a candle flame, worried about his make up slipping off if he sweats...

Indeed. I was just really surprised, because most people just mindlessly bitch about stuff like that, but your rant was concise but said a whole lot in an almost poetic way. ;P Cheers and then some.

The problem is, boys from Edguy dont mean it at all unlike some other bands...but some people here are too serious for funny bands...

Although they try to be funny they are not funny. Please a song such as Lavatory Love Machine is totally not funny.
Loads of bands try to be funny but as it turns out they are musicians and not comedians. And this espcially refers to Germans."
There is a universal riddle/joke which holds a lot of truth to it. "Question: What is the thinnest book of humour in the world? Answer: The German book of humour."

Zimmershole, however, now they ARE funny.

I love Lavatory Love Machine. Sure, a 6 year old come have made those jokes, but I still enjoy it.
