Heidenfest 2010 - European Tour Dates

Ensiferum, Equilibrium, Swashbuckle and Heidevolk - with Eisregen on select dates - will embark on the European Heidenfest tour this autumn. One very special guest will be announced soon. Here's the obligatory tour announcement:

"The gods of the North reawake to new life this Autumn and send their bravest heathen warriors back to the fronts to prepare another, bombastic foray through Europe. In this moment a tribe of irreligious barbarians, honorable swordfighters and fearless druids arm for a very special battle in mind to continue the fascinating Northern mythology of the past days also in 2010. A storm is brewing, because from every dark corner the horns call for war, heralding the might of this upcoming Ragnarök. In this year, Heidenfest complies all the wishes of pagan-metal-lovers once again and invites to a monstrous spectacular. The wide range of heathen sound-art will be united in this festival-tour: If black-metal-epic, melancholic melodies, rampant wrath or folkloristic catchy-tunes, Heidenfest feeds you with the most essential substances of pagan culture."

Once again England doesn't exist outside of London.

Exactly my thought when I saw this... we don't seem to be a popular destination at all.

How do you think the rest of the UK feels? So many bands have a single UK date and it's always in London

Seems Germany has the most idiots who'd actually go to such a thing. If a tour like this spares your country, be glad about it. It shows that it's metal scene is still distinct enough not to be recognized as drainable of the last of their money on the 100th incarnation of the same and very-same tour concept...

All the while the USA get a tour of Opeth with Enslaved. Over here, they'd either throw in *core-crap or folk-crap as support. And it pays!

In the states Dark Tranquillity have to support Killswitch Engage and The Devil Wears Prada while Opeth's last tour in Germany featured Dream Theater and uneXpect :

I agree with the rest of your post though. It's always Ensiferum, Equilibrium, Eluveitie or Finntroll. Even for a folk metal fan those RTN tours are getting quite annoying.

Always the same bands.. okay. but if these are my favourite bands why should I complain?
For example I've seen Korpiklaani 4 times in the last 2 years but I'll go and see them again in May!

I don't know about Dark Tranquillity or Killswitch Engage but the last time I've had the chance to see Opeth, one of their openers was The Ocean. So bite me!
The other one was Cynic though. Awesome show!
But there really is a lack of identification with the old styles on the part of the labels. Who'd put Kreator on tour and throw in Caliban and Eluveitie? Each band had their own fans there that night and none stayed to see the others (well, we did, but we regretted it).

yup, i have been looking at lineups of Paganfest and Heidenfest and there's always the same bands, more or less the ones you mentioned plus korpiklaani, moonsorrow, turisas, alestorm etc.

disclaimer: i like Korpiklaani, Turisas, Alestorm and i used to be a huge fan of Ensiferum, this tour stop never stopped anywhere near Bucharest, i never had any thoughts of attending this or Paganfest, but FFS a little VARIATION would be welcome.

How the hell does Swashbuckle get priority over Heidevolk?

The same way Varg got priority over Arkona on the Paganfest tour.

Because Swashbuckle sells way more and are on a big label. But what the hell is Swashbuckle doing on a folk metal line-up? They play thrash nothing more nothing less.

Well, when they were here last, touring with Korpiklaani and Tyr, it looked like Swashbuckle were also the roadies for the tour. Perhaps their payment is stage time? Heh.

Hey guys, anyone who were on Heidenfest so far - is it normal, that 3/4 of audience leave after Ensiferum not to see Twilight Of The Gods? other constantly leaving during their performance

in Prague there were hardly 100 most loyal in the end of the show (out of about 500 or even more what was the full audience)...i mean, what the heck - THIS IS BATHORY! - almost whole (if not whole) folk metal was forged thanks to Quorthon and now young posers just come in to jump on Ensiferum and then leave, becuase Bathory is too boring for them? :

i know that maybe whole concept of Twilight Of The Gods is a bit wrong - at least during the show i cannot get rid of feeling, that Bathory music is more than just Naihmass' strange movements and his repetitive "raise your fist for me" and "make the (metal) sign for me" comments and more than any attempts to headbang or mosh under the stage (also most of the remaining audience must feel that so and so they just stood calm and listen) - plus it was mistake (or money-milking intention?) to enlist them to such lineup Heidenfest has, but still my metal brothers, i am disappoint
