Angra - Temple Of Shadows

Fucking amazing!!

This is an impressive mixture of different sounds, styles and genres, even from outside the metal world

I love this album.

Why is it nearly all Angra albums need to be listened to like 20 times over before I hear the brilliance? I always originally loved this album, but am only now hearing how much of a masterpiece it is.

This is simply, one of my all time fave albums from any genre, and up there with early Helloween as far as classicness goes.

While Helloween basically created the genre, with the first 3 albums. With Temple Of Shadows, Angra turned the genre on it's head, and pushed the boundaries of it to unseen levels. Definitely a masterpiece in every sense of the word, and Angra's finest work.

My favourite power-album, ever. I can only recommend this musical journey.

I like a lot of power metal but this album never gets stale. Incredible songs.....

Damn this is so good! Angra are at their best when they're fast and more aggressive.

Milton Nascimento sounds awesome in this album.

First half of the album warrants a 10 for me as you can't find power metal better than this, second half however is not as good probably an 8. So overall a 9/10.

My favorite Angra album. This is undoubtedly their best effort!

Great album from Brazil

Amazing album. I suppose the band were very ambitious and creative when recording this album, but fans of the band probably expected something even better than 'Rebirth' with this, and that's essentially what this album is, although not by that much. The guitar work is, as always, something to marvel at, the symphonic compositions and neo-classical influences are running their course throughout the album and even the vocals add something unique to the album itself. 'The shadow hunter' and 'Late redemption' are personal favourites from this album.

Top 10 albums of all time...

Angra in one album, progressive, power and neoclassical metal just mixed in this one, the best album of Angra even better than before releases with Andre Matos, 7 years and i still loving this , is one of the best metal albums of all history even if you are not a fan of power metal music this one is a must have.

Great album

The overall rating needs to be WAAAAY higher. Nothing but absolute quality and virtuosity on this masterpiece. Could eat Metallica's entire discography in one gulp.

I'm gonna comment again because I have to let it all out. All early favorites aside, this was the best band ever at one point and this IS the best album ever made. Vocally, guitars, solos, drums, bass, mood, diversity, adrenaline, story, concept, everything. This is the best album ever made by humans until today...

This is just so good...

This album is a genre defining album, absolutely one of the best power metal albums real esse in the 2000s, up there with Kamelot's Epica/Karma but IMO better. Although I don't like Edu as much as I like Matos, he just nails every song and the musicianship is top class.

This should be on everyone's list of essential listens for power metal.

I haven't listened to this album in a rather long time. I will give it a listen soon.

Perfect. Simply Perfect.

Angra was not familiar band before I listened this a few times this week. At first all I heard was pretty generic power metal but towards end it got much more interesting with very unusual elements to power metal. Had to listen a couple of times the whole thing to appreciate it and I was really surprised how much I began to enjoy it.

I think I like the second half better since it's not so much power metal and rather progressive. Favorite songs are Angels And Demons, The Temple Of Hate, The Shadow Hunter and Sprouts Of Time. Also Winds Of Destination has very cool intro.

Some not so great songs like Wishing Well. Also the female vocals on Spread Your Fire are pretty awful in my opinion but better on No Pain For The Dead.

Sometimes it pays off to give album few spins and not give up if it doesn't work right away. I just might try other albums if I have the time.
