So, when you think of metal bands with some of the all-time great line-ups, whom do you think of? Go ahead; think for a moment. As for me, names like Bloodbath, Opeth, Cynic, and Diabolical Masquerade are a few that come to mind. Hmm, it's interesting that three of those share common members, isn's it? And oh yeah, by the way, there are several others you can add to that list, one of them being Nevermore. Let's see here, we have one of the best vocalists in not only metal, but in all of music in Warrel Dane, without a doubt one of music's best guitarists in Jeff Loomis, an incredible drummer in Van Williams, and a bass player by the name of Jim Sheppard who had no problem keeping up with all of them.

Welcome to the site!

But he "did not like the album"! Clearly that warrants a 1!!
On a side note, this is clearly the highlight in Nevermore's (as well as Loomis') career.

Yeah it is. This Godless Endeavor occasionally nibbles at its toes, but this always comes out on top.

Yep. Their best, indeed. Way more varied than This Godless Endeavour.

Dead Heart first, and then it's a fight between Godless and Dreaming Neon Black for second place.

Dreaming Neon Black is the second place. But yeah, Dead Heart detroys all their albums.

Still not convinced, sorry. Even if it's really fucking great, I would still put Politics of Ecstasy AND Dreaming Neon Black AND This Godless Endeavor above it.
Even if it's by a small margin

Just as diverse in quality as This Godless Endeavour.
Narcosynthesis, Heart Collector, title track are all excellent tracks.
We Disintegrate and Inside Four Walls are also great.
But the rest is rather mediocre I would say. The SAG cover is forgetable.
Overall This Godless Endeavour wins the crown as best Nevermore album for me, but only by a margin.
The rest of their discography did not give me much unfortunately.

I just can't stand most of the lyrics. Like the worst of the worst Dream Theater lyrics. Music is darn good though, quite a polarizing album.

I'd only really listened to The Politics Of Ecstasy before giving Nevermore a proper listen. This is definitely my favourite of theirs! Jeff Loomis's playing is outstanding on here and Warrel Dane (RIP) gave a fantastic performance.

'The Sound Of Silence' is especially surprising, I'm not normally a fan of covers in metal but this really took an original approach that made it a different enough experience from the original to make it enjoyable.

9.3/10 for me - 'Narcosynthesis', 'We Disintegrate', 'The Sound Of Silence' and 'Believe In Nothing' are the standout tracks. 'Inside Four Walls' and 'The River Dragon Has Come' are both also fantastic.

This belongs to top 3 of the band but Godless Endeavor is untouchable and superior.

First time listening to Nevermore. I would put this album in my rotation but I just can't stand the vocals, not my thing. The music is outstanding though.

Warrel was one of the best vocalists of all time - if not the best. I am a big fan of Sanctuary and Nevermore alike and yes, I would put DHIADW on the same level as the two Sanctuary LPs.

But it´s of course not only Warrel. Loomis is one of the best Metal axe wielders and so is the rest of the band on a higher level.

This record is so diverse, catchy, hard and fast then melodic and melancholic... just wow.

I saw Warrel a good month before his death with Sanctuary and what a person he was. Despite some comments here I am a big fan of his lyrics.

Hard to pic faves - I say all (maybe except of the title track) are great to masterpieces. I like those a bit better: Narcosynthesis, We Desintigrate, The River Dragon Has Come, The Heart Collector, The Sound Of Silence (best cover ever!) and Believe In Nothing

So excited about the reunion. The new guys are fantastic!

Update: I like DHIADW and TGE alike.
