Oh please, everything Cannibal Corpse has done after Vile has been nothing but generic death metal.

I dont agree with either of the above posts. lol
'Bloodthirst' is a very good album, held off from being great by 3 or 4 fillers.
'Blowtorch Slaughter' is in my top 5 CC songs!

It's just that the guitars are a bit muffled and uninspired, with some decent solos here and there, but nothing special. There are some good tracks, but overall Cannibal Corpse haven't been what they used to be.
At least it's better than Gore Obsessed, I hate that album. XD

Uh, yeah... I'm in the minority who considers "Kill" to be somewhat weak for a death metal album. Still, "Infinite Misery", "The Time To Kill Is Now" and "Five Nails Through The Neck" are good songs, esp. "Infinite Misery".

Yep, even a lot of people who dont like the Corpsegrinder era have admitted to thinking that 'KILL' is a good album. lol
For me, the whole thing, or just about, is classic death metal. 'Make Them Suffer', 'Purification By Fire', 'Submerged In Boiling Flesh', 'Brain Removal Device'... the songs you mentioned, its just really strong the whole way through! 'Five Nails...' is actually my fave song on the album. The breakdown in that song is just sick. xD

Nope, classic/old school death would be Master and Massacre. "KILL" only has a few elements buried in the music.

I definitely dont agree with the mindset that only ''old=classic''. Sure, there's far less albums being released now that Id call classic compared to say 20/25 years ago, but Id definitely use that word for 'KILL'. Its a very high quality death metal album, with no filler on it whatsoever. Now that to my mind equals a classic album! lol
Of course, this is only my opinion, but its what I think. Do you think if Massacre released 'From Beyond' now, it'd be regarded as a classic? No way! The first time I heard 'Dawn Of Eternity' as a kid, it scared the pants off me! lol I still consider that song to be one of the all time classic death metal anthems. xD

No filler? Seriously? The tracks were definitely aggressive, but not always inspired. I was saying that there's just that "old school death" sound that's present in those albums that "Kill" lacks. It's by no means a classic.
Maybe not, but it'd be praised for its old school sound, plus I meant the demos. "Aggressive Tyrant" was devastating back in the '80s and still is today.

All Im going to say to this is, I dont agree with you.

Thats more what I was meaning, as opposed to the album's sound. Even if you are right about 'KILL' not sounding old school, that doesnt mean it cant be a classic album.

Well, Cannibal Corpse has a pretty big cult following, so I guess you're right that it might be a classic.

And what's wrong with that? Besides, that isn't their only album which lacks a song on that topic.

Its catchy yet retains brutality and complexity. There is also quite a lot of atmosphere, I love the tapping section in 'The Spine Splitter' especially, it sounds maniacal and just plain twisted.

This is a pretty good one, "Unleashing the Bloodthirsty" has to be not only in my top 10 CC songs, probably in my top 10 death metal songs. And I've heard like, probably over a hundred!

Not a huge fan of death metal but damn! this is as catchy as anything Paramore have ever released.

You are not metal enough until you visit Kenya. The cradle of mankind, where man learnt first to work with stones and first enjoyed the sounds produced by banging stones which later influenced metal in all its sounds and genres.

This was one of their best sounding albums, and was excellently produced, they had also increased their tempo and ferocity, and showed a more technical side to their style too. But the songwriting itself was still fairly generic, and perhaps the riffs could have been better also.
"Unleashing the Bloodthirsty" would probably be my pick as the highlight of the album, with "The Spine Splitter" and "Dead Human Collection" being the other decent tracks.
