I noticed this band only a few months ago, but since the first notes it immediately caught my attention. The two "Tolkien-epic-men" Silenius and Protector are two great musicians; and the proof is their melodic reserch into each song. Infact, if you listen to this Summoning's album, there's always a keyboard part that gives strong emotions, completes the base riffs in a really catchy way and creates that atmosphere characteristic of the Atmospheric/Black Metal (a genre in which this band rules since 1993). In any case, I recommend you to check out Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame. It was the last album of their discography I checked out but it's my favourite nonetheless. It really doesn't get more epic and majestic than that album. Honestly, Dol Guldur is rather boring compared to that one. Hell, even the likes of Joe love that album.  It's a true masterpiece of epic black metal and it also has the most variety going on out of all Summoning albums, no doubt about that.

Not my favourite Summoning album, but still a damn good listen. I would rank as follows (from the albums I've heard): 1. Stronghold 2. Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame 3. Oath Bound 4. Old Mornings Dawn 5. Dol Guldur

I agree the vocals aren't the best. The production on the guitars is much too thin as well. This album is one of the few I think would benefit from a remaster.
