After some very positive feedback from their last two albums, in particular the brilliant "Since The Day It All Came Down," Insomnium came back with a third album appropriately titled "Above the Weeping World." Now I say appropriately because the album portrays a strong atmosphere of sorrow, and even sometimes delight, achieved through excellent music and meaningful lyrics.

This is the first I've heard of this band from Finland, and I'm impressed. 'Mortal Share' is my favorite pick.

It is hard to find right words to describe its beauty, so I won't even try. This is one of few albums which deserves 10 without hesitation. Live long Insomnium and thank you!

Great album! Last Statement is incredible!

I agree, it's hands down the best song on the album. Overall a very good album, but not as great as I thought it would be (seeing as it's rated an 8.9).

This album is just so incredibly good! Best album by this band IMO, though Since The Day It All Came Down is breathing Above The Weeping World in it's neck. Incredible band

I won't ever be able to rate Insomnium's albums over one another but I can definitely say - This album is one of the best albums in music history, it's melodies and lyrics haunt me to the day.

That said, the tracks are all quite samey and similar to each other, and there is a general lack of variation in terms of the writing sometimes. Those are the only things holding me back from giving it higher than an 8.

In fact the main reason why it is not a 10 for me.

Their 2nd best album after Winter's Gate IMO.

8.9/10 for me - 'Mortal Share' and 'The Killjoy' are the standout songs. 'Drawn To Black', 'Devoid Of Caring' and 'In The Groves Of Death' are all also great.

A timeless melodeath classic, and most likely my favourite favourite Insomnium album. Every song is at least good, but range from good to excellent imo, with "Mortal Share", "At The Gates Of Sleep", "The Killjoy" and "Last Statement" as the main stand outs for me. But as great as this album is, I still prefer many Dark Tranquillity albums over it.

I really tried to like this album since its considered on of the best Insomnium release. For some reason I always get bored after 3-4 tracks.... Was never able to listened it from front to back... In fact the only album I enjoy from this band is Winter's Gate.
