In 2009 a certain "all-star" grind band got back together to play what was going to be their last ever show. Lock Up headlined the Damnation Festival in England that year, which turned out to be the push this group needed for a proper revival. With a line up that includes Shane Embury of Napalm Death on bass, Tomas Lindberg of At The Gates on vocals, and the blast machine Nick Barker behind the kit, there was no chance that this band wouldn't be a treat to hear.

Necropolis Transparent is the band's third album and second with Tomas on vocals, and comes nine years after the band's last masterpiece of grind Hate Breeds Suffering. The album picks up exactly where the last one left off in that we have a CD bursting with two to three minute chunks of addictive and unrelenting grindcore.

Lock Up are no longer a Napalm Death side project band, these guys are part of a proper band that want to rip your face off. Necropolis Transparent has everything that you'd be hoping and expecting for if you were gripped by Hate Breeds Suffering and craved for more. If anything, there is slightly more here than expected, with a running time ten minutes longer than the last album. Original vocalist Peter Tägtgren and Carcass growler Jeff Walker also make appearances, although you wouldn't know it without careful attention.

As far as grindcore goes, Lock Up are one of the cleanest and tightest bands out there. After almost a decade of anticipation, Necropolis Transparent is a more than worthy follow-up. With the band's pedigree, it would be foolish for you not to give this welcomed return a blast too.

Well, except the fact about the guest appearances and the "10 minutes longer" than the last album i didnt read anything else about the new album. also, if the last one is a "masterpiece", then if this one gets an "8,0" it is shit i think.. lol. (of course i get the meaning of it all but dont like it when words like "masterpiece" etc are just used in order to make impression and are not meant...)
