Compared to nearly all the rest of the bands that got awards they are underground, But they are hardly the most KVLT band ever to exist... Regardless Primordial are an awesome band IMO and its Good that they got an award.

Wow, only one metalcore band on there. Also, lawl at Primordial being underground. Awesome band , but not at all underground, unless you don't dig any deeper than Slipknot, which is true for a lot of Metal Hammer readers I suppose. Either way, good to see Diamond Head get some mainstream recognition. Underrated band. Still, predictable awards. Iron Maiden is the best U.K band? Who would have guessed that?

Best New Band - The Damned Things - Generic radio rock.
Metal As Fuck - Nergal (Behemoth) - Okay, beating cancer is nice and all, but didn't he disregard doctors advice and almost ruined his entire treatment? Well, unlike last year, they couldn't put Behemoth in every category, so I suppose they made this shit up to do that.
Best Underground - Primordial - Someone should tell them MetalBlade isn't exactly "underground". This is the award they should use for helping new bands get some exposure, instead they give it to any band that isn't A7X, Behemoth, or Judas Priest.
Dimebag Darrell Shredder - Gus G. (Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne) For what? That crappy Ozzy album? Jesus...
Breakthrough Artist - Sabaton - 5 albums in, been around for 12 years. Nice fucking work.
Best UK Band - Iron Maiden - Once again, needed at least one category to hand to Maiden.
Best Live Band - Skindred - Can't comment on this, it's impossible for me to say.
Inspiration Award - Twisted Sister - for what exactly? The take back the horns website? Which came out about 2 years ago. Or for having your lead singer start his on reality tv show?
Best International Band - Avenged Sevenfold - Not entirely sure how the fuck this is judged. Just pick any band that isn't from Europe and pays them to be put on the cover constantly? Ok then...
Best Album - Absolute Dissent by Killing Joke - Couldn't say, haven't heard it.
Event of the Year - "Big 4" coming together for first time ever in the U.K. - Possibly the only award they actually got right.
Riff Lord(s) - Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein (Down) - Haven't even released an album or anything.
Spirit of Hammer - Diamond Head - Not sure what the fuck this award is for.
Icons - Judas Priest - For doing what? Retiring?
Golden God - Rob Zombie - Once again...What has he done? I mean, maybe 5 years ago or something, but lets face it, Zombie has already hit his peak.
