This album has an ultra heavy sound about it, and it's certainly a landmark record of the industrial genre in my opinion. However, just because it is heavily influenced by Industrial sounds and Death Metal doesn't mean it's without its soul and emotion, and there is plenty of that here. The more melodic, atmospheric likes of 'A Therapy for Pain' and 'Pisschrist' complement the excellent and aggressive 'New Breed' and 'Replica'. It all seems very powerful stuff, that surely resonates with many a fan of any genre in metal.

Very beautiful album. It influenced my metal taste for sure. Unfortunately Fear Factory didnt manage to record an album that is nearly as good as "Demanufaacture"

Their only solid album, imo. There are some song highlights after, but more misses than hits.

For those who have never heard this album and wonder why it's so highly rated: I feel as if this instrumental segment sums it up. It's super dark, cold, gritty, and undeniably industrial while pummeling you with some heavy as fuck grooves. It was wayyyy ahead of its time and Fear Factory is credited as one of the main bands to popularize melodic singing in heavier music. They invented this groove that nowadays sounds generic because so many other people copied it. Burton's vocals have not held up well but a lot of modern groove/thrash/industrial vocalists cite him as a massive influence.
Definitely their best album, but they are far from a one-album wonder. Obsolete, Mechanize, and Genexus aren't far away in terms of quality. They lost the cold industrial edge in recent times but are still a super solid groove metal band.

Last song (A Therapy For Pain) is one of the greatest album enders I've ever heard

That actually made me gather my thoughts on this which made me realize how much I prefer the first half of this album. Would be an easy 8 if not a 9 if the back half had nearly the same level of quality.

Spot on. This should've been an EP. It would be muuuch better.

The first half (5/6 tracks) are vastly superior to the rest of the album. Like Daniell said this should've been an EP.

This is how industrial metal should be done, without rapping or some stupid techno influences. Just badass metal with some nice groovy riffs, tight as hell drumming and melodic singing. I don't know why, but I only found this album some years ago. Better late than never, I quess.
