Kamelot - Reveal New Vocalist

The big mystery surrounding the new singer of Kamelot has been revealed. The band has just announced that Tommy Karevik is their new vocalist. The following press release was issued: "The American/German symphonic metal band Kamelot is proud to announce another key piece leading to the release of their new studio album. A question foremost in every Kamelot fan's mind has been: Who is the group's new lead singer? Band mastermind and guitarist Thomas Youngblood has now revealed: 'The new man is Scandinavian Tommy Karevik!'

"The general public may not be overly familiar with the 30 year old Swede, Karevik, but people in the industry know him as the immensely talented frontman of the Swedish band, Seventh Wonder. Youngblood states: 'We had around 800 candidates for the vacant position, among them a number of really renowned musicians, and having to reject them really wasn't easy. We want to thank all the applicants, thank you for your understanding and we wish you all lots of success in the future!'

In their search for a new singer, Thomas Youngblood found YouTube to be an amazing tool: "I listened to a clip of a studio production featuring Tommy and have to confess that his performance really amazed me. His approach to melodies and themes suits Kamelot perfectly, and during our European shows we had plenty of opportunity to find out what a great guy he is."

Karevik is thrilled about his new position: "I am so honored to now be a part of this family and I can't wait to move into the new era of the band together with the guys. I fully understand that this comes with great responsibility and that it will be a big challenge for me as a singer as well as a person, but you can rest assured I will give it my all. From this day, a new journey has begun and I am really eager to meet you all along the way to share my passion for this music!"

You can read Tommy's biography here.

That's probably the only shot at seeing SW live I'd ever get *knocking herself out*
They posted an update on their Facebook wall, asking fans about their dream setlist for an SW show... maybe there's a DVD in the works?

I just joined this forum and I guess I'm over two years late to this discussion, but I still want to say some stuff.
It's really fun reading the reactions to Karevik joining Kamelot now with Silverthorn out and all.

I actually saw Tommy in Seventh Wonder in 2009, same day I saw Kamelot for the first time. Didn't think much of Seventh Wonder but they were good and Tommy was really good with the audience, I was how ever blown away by Kamelot, especially Khan's vocals, I hadn't listened to Kamelot that much but their performance that day (Sweden Rock Festival 09) really got me into them. When I heard about Khan leaving I was so fucking depressed, I've never heard anyone sing with such emotion before, and his vocal range is simply amazing (godlike when he was younger, just listen to Conception).

To the point: I really like Tommy too, but it's just not the same. I like Tommy's vocals on Silverthorn even though I dont really like the album, the songwriting dropped immensly when Khan left and sometimes it sounds more like pop than metal to me. Kamelot used to be a one of a kind epic band but with Silverthorn they became slightly more mainstream. I am however really glad that Tommy is their new singer because he does fit them and is great live too, I saw them after Silverthorn was released and it was a fantastic show! but Kamelot will never be the same that's for sure.

I realize no one will ever read this since the thread is so old but I have no one to discuss Kamelot stuff with since everyone my age only listens to dubstep-crap and such and I really want to talk about this stuff. If someone do happends to read this however and want to discuss it with me feel free to PM (can you do that here?) I'd love to chat about this Kamelot!

Roy Khan is god.

As people have already discussed in pages about Roy in forums, I don't think anyone gonna start discussing about "Why Roy Left Kamelot?!'/"Was He Really A Backbone Of Kamelot?". Anyhoo, Roy Khan's worshipers might PM you about his updates.

For me, he was always been a good singer. Not an equivalent to give a status of god of power metal singers or something like that. Although, Kamelot's finest releases happened in Roy's era but taggin' he's god is sheer exaggeration(only if you don't worship Roy Khan).

Oh I didn't mean I wanna discuss why he left the band, just all-things Kamelot! And I just commented because, as I said, It's interesting to read peoples reactions to Karevik now that we all know the results.
