Sounds very intriguing. You surprised me by reviewing something so crushing, yet the appreciation exemplified is a good indication that I must've overlooked any past brutal-tastes. I might give this band another go. While I'm not offended by lyrics in this typical Deicide fashion...I did skip over this band due to wishing for more depth. (Even back in the day, as a kid, I always preferred my evil DM to resemble a more phantasmal, spiritual entity like Morbid Angel...rather than "hate, hate, hate, etc.") But I really do enjoy a relentless beating, so...

This is a really good solid album. I am a Christian but even I can't help but chant along to that hook of a chorus "WHERE IS YOUR SAVIOR?!!! WHERE IS YOUR GOD?!!!"

Well...you're a Christian *metalhead* (like me). That fact in itself means you have a much more open, and less fascist/fundamentalist in attitude. I am very spiritual, myself. But religion sucks. I play one-man black metal as a purging, and listen to stuff like this for the same reason. My comment concerning the Deicide comparison is just really describing how I like my death metal dark, spooky, dank, deep...just a bunch of bitchout crap isn't very engrossing. If you're gonna be an angry, evil representative for the darkness...do it right! Scare me! Lol. Anyway, been listening to this, and while it is good enough to really not care too much about the simplicity of the angry lyrics...I'm not in a huge hurry to purchase it over, say...something released by Razorback Records or something like that.

Incredibly talented band, insanely good vocalist, all around awesomeness... But the monotony of the lyrics drives me fucking insane.

LOL the one time you can actually understand the lyrics of a death metal album and they're not ones you want to hear. Naturally

Well, that's even better. I'm "glad" that even after studying music you keep listening to stuff like this and didn't become an annoying elitist like some people I know
I checked out these guys a while ago, they remind me to Bloodbath, which is great. And I agree with everything you wrote... specially the production, it's remarkable!

always came across as a swedish deicide to me, nothing really remarkable to mention about what they do, so kudos for that
I have always felt the same thing due to the extremely anti-christian lyrics but I have always felt they are better than Deicide; or at least I like them more however you want to look at it.

I had to check my iPod at one point cuz I thought I had somehow been switched from Aeon to Cannibal Corpse.

I am an extremely liberal christian. I listen to metal for the music not the messages, for me vocalists are just musicians with built in instruments. I love Antestor and all but I would go crazy if I limited myself to only listening to them for my black metal fix (black metal is my second fave genre behind death metal).

C'mon now...so you WANT us to be easily offended pricks that don't understand how to keep faith and entertainment separate? Sounds like you think all Christians are the stereotypical, irrationally afraid, strict bible thumpers that don't let their kids be anything but Disney good-guys (no villains, mind you!) for Halloween...Far from it. A person with strong spiritual integrity can even be far more open and "liberal" than almost EVERY metal elitist. God made me artistic and left, right, and diagonal-brained enough to be so metal that my Burzum CD sits comfortably on the same rack with Saviour Machine...and I love how evil some of my metal is. Besides...if I were so "evil" that I agreed with the supposedly disturbing nature of most extreme metal...then how the hell would I get disturbed at all? That's the fun of it...XD
Post-comment edit: Ohhhhh...I get it now. YOU are a strict Christian! LOL. Well...Judge not, lest ye be judged, brother. At least the boy (whom you said "Nice effort at being Christian" to) has faith. I do too. No amount of black metal, death metal, horror movies, or whatever changes that. I have a bit of advice for you. Don't hint that a fellow believer is less of a Christian than you. Not very Christlike...

C'mon now...
my good man, i love me some metal in general (not necessarily christian) but when it comes to cursing your God and showing how God is not there, or doesn't care, or doesn't exist: isn't that going AGAINST your beliefs? and no, I'm not strict, but i decided that lyrics DO offend the God i follow. sing what you wish, but "For out of abundance of the heart his mouth speaks". don't contradict your beliefs, it confuses people (and makes you a hypocrite to unbelievers) and dude, im no master christian, im just a youth trying to point the right way.

Nonono. You don't seem to get it. When you watch a "spooky movie" with a godless killer, while not wishing harm upon anyone, do you not enjoy the ride? I am a minister here in TX, and while I have already expressed the juvenile qualities of the "bad-guy" lyrics here, to enjoy them as villains is NOT against God in my life, and most likely that poor lad in which your tiny comment could have hurt. It's strength in FAITH that keeps us from being negatively affected by such bands. I don't mean to fight here, and I'm being a bit too wordy for the subject's good...but there was no reason to put down a certain metalhead's style of personal faith and fanaticism, which he obviously succeeds in sustaining side-by-side. Much like me.

See, I can enjoy Christans like you. Just because someone says something you don't believe in doesn't make it true for you. It's the people that act like... If I were to say "I don't believe in God" suddenly they're offended as though that opinion has made him non-existent. An open mind is key, good ser.
"An it harm none, do what thou wilt." -Wiccan rede.
Well, thank you. And I truly don't want to fight with anybody. My pastor just tells me to do whatever I can to reach people, as I can do things his cowboy-ways cannot. I am by no means perfect. Believe it or not; I used to be Wiccan, lol. I know many kind and wonderful people that are. But my indulgence is absolutely separate from faith, and I find my God in every scenario...even an Aeon album. Weird, but it's my way.

Well...see, I reached someone that coulda otherwise possibly been very standofish of a Christian (Wolfen...whom I don't want to assume anything about.) And God knows my heart. This isn't Old Testament days. And yes. EVERYONE CAN be a Christian if they so choose. He loves us all. Now I'm tired of preaching. Unlike dude, I didn't come here on something I KNOW I dislike for some weird reason. I do like it, and WILL enjoy it. \m/

Good but nothing compared to bleeding the false. The production benefits this album a lot, other than that its a solid dose of brutal death.

Good review kind sir. Although I only listened to Aeons Black the song, I did find the lyrics "where's your God, where's your savior" to be a little over used. The music was cool and the vocalists is quite discernible but I found myself wanting more from the song in light of your gracious review.
