Lamb Of God - Frontman Randy Blythe's Trial Begins

Randy Blythe, frontman of Lamb Of God, is in the Czech capital of Prague for his trial which started yesterday. After being arrested in the Czech Republic this past summer, detained for five weeks and then released on 400,000 dollars bail, Randy Blythe is back in a Czech court. He is being charged with what amounts to manslaughter, on allegations that he pushed a fan, Daniel Nosek, at a 2010 show in Prague, and the fan suffered head injuries from that push that eventually led to his death.

In addition to facing up to 10 years in prison, the family of the deceased fan is seeking 10 million Czech Koruna, which rounds up to $530,000 U.S., in damages.

Randy posted this message on Instagram: "And so it begins. I am calm & prepared. Everyone, thanks for your good thoughts and prayers. Have a nice day, y'all!"

According to WTVR, Blythe criticized the lack of security at the concert in question and said he had been worried there was no metal barrier in place to prevent fans from climbing onto the stage. He added Lamb Of God would never allow fans to join them like that, citing safety concerns for both the band and the fans themselves.

The singer did admit to forcing one man off the stage. Asked by the lead judge, Tomás Kubovec, to corroborate witness accounts that he pushed Nosek off the stage, Blythe replied, "I never saw Mr. Nosek or came into contact with him."

Randy said in his statement: "The death of a fan is heartbreaking. I'm not a man who runs from his problems, but I do not wish to be punished and suffer the consequences of an act I did not commit."

In the afternoon, the court heard from Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler and the band's manager, Larry Mazer. Both men praised Blythe's character, labeling him quiet and well read. Any aggression in his character was simply his onstage persona, they said.

The trial is set to last until the end of the week. Today the court will hear from 12 witnesses who attended the concert.

Well, the man committed a crime even if it wasn't intended. The punishment is a bit harsh for being a mistake ( the prison time in Finland for murder is about 10-14 years). It's quite interesting that so many is defending him but if it was for example Justin Bieber who did it you would hate on him. Anyway, hopes it turn well for all parties.

Yeah, the 10 year sentence demand and $530 000 for mental damage are over the top. In Finland this would likely be negligent homicide if found guilty, which usually leads to probation.

Well it's actually pretty awesome that he did go back to the Czech Republic to stand trial. Doesn't matter which band he plays in, you still respect the dude for doing it.
It's quite shitty what's happening though. I have a feeling that bands might slowly start skipping Czech Republic dates on tour as they wouldn't want something like this to happen again. It only works against the fans.
It's sad about the death of the fan, but it's understandable that Randy pushed him off stage. It's quite pissing off being onstage and having drunken/stupid fans come onstage without the band inviting them onstage.

Just let him go, if you jump on the stage your going to get pushed off. It happens no matter where you are. Mayhem fest, or a small club or venue. This whole thing is bs.

I am pretty sure he will be sentenced for murder...but a manslaughter it can be easily - he wasnt in direct danger of life, because its crystal clear the dead guy didnt want to attack him, so the self-defence wont make it for him in our country...in our glorious state you can be find guilty when you try to stop a thief on the run and harm him...

Well since the US does have extradition laws if the Czech Republic's government demanded that he be extradited to face manslaughter charges (which, if I'm not mistaken, is a felony in every country) then the US would give him over to the Czech Republic's government. And that would look even worse for him because then on top of the manslaughter charges they would likely also bring up charges for bail jumping, resisting arrest, fugitive activities (or whatever the legal term is) and God knows what else they might be able to hit him with for not voluntarily going back to face the original manslaughter charges.

In our country only the most serious felony counts towards the result, so he needn't to worry about that...on the other hand US always can say he wont be facing a fair trial here and refuse to give him over on that condition...so Randy actually deserves respect for his movement...

Funny thing is, if Justin Bieber or One Direction did something like this (yeah I know, they're more likely to cry than fight back, but lets be hypothetical here), the Czech government wouldn't have even touched them and ruled it an accidental death for the fan. If Randy is found guilty, it'll only be yet another example of how our culture is still treated like shit by the masses.

To be fair Bieber or One Erection couldn't push an email.
