Be it for hobby, for boredom, for real, for whatsoever?
Post anything you feel it's related here.
As for me, I play sporadically. In some times of my life I play seldom, in some I become kinda addicted to it.
Once I played it pretty good, now I'm back to sucking. It's one of those things that you sort of forget if you don't practice.

It's insane how good Hikaru is even compared to other top Grandmasters. Shame he didn't make it to the World Championship final - he would've definitely deserved it!

I just competed in a three-check tournament organized by Hikaru. I finished 5th out of 176 participants! Here's the proof: Seen from Hikaru's stream: Seen from my phone:

Finally won against grandpa gambit Very interesting game where since early I stay with a queen and a couple pawns versus his two pieces and rook, so it all comes to a very long grinding for either me checking his king and trying to fork in order to win a piece or him trying to trap my queen instead. There are tricks everywhere, my kind of game.

Pretty successful tournament. I finished 26th out of 98 participants, and was tied for first in my team! I usually suck at time controls with increment (because I can't dirty flag the opponent ) but this time I was really good! Maybe my lucky charm was the fact that I was listening to Stained Class on repeat while playing! Here's the link to the tournament overview: https://lichess.org/tournament/v2pCBKxd And here are some of my biggest wins during the tournament. vs. a 2203 rated player https://lichess.org/VD03oWBeoLaN vs. 2121 rated player https://lichess.org/K35YbHDD3Jks vs. a 2101 rated player https://lichess.org/981KMxL99siS vs. A 2046 rated player https://lichess.org/LzwMwwBEGu67

Ok. Just watched this game and left out dumbfounded by the coolness. Schranz starts with evans gambit and faces the weasel (previous fishslayer countergambit) where black gives back a piece for the gambited pawn in order to gain the center themselves. It goes like 1.e4, e5 2.Nf3, Bc6, 3. Bc4, Bc5 4.b4, Bxb4 5.c3 (this is the evans gambit, where white gets a comfy center for a pawn) but in the weasel black responds eith 5... f5!? giving the bishop away. The idea is that if tha pawn takes the bishop then f6 either traps the knight or makes white undevelop, which leads to some crazy positions for both sides. In this game, though, he didn't take the bishop AND didn't save the knight, choosing to castle instead! and then black let the bishop hanging up to like move 10, except that it wasn't really blunders, there were tactics involved all the way. The weasel always leads to crazy games when played theoretically but this game here is on another level, we end up with a game of hanging pieces and mate threats every move for both sides. Good stuff. Makes me admire Schranz even more for noticing all the tactics in a just 3 minute game.

Here is a cool bullet game from me. I blundered my queen. My opponent has a checkmate idea, but with 0.3 seconds on the clock, I spot a backrank checkmate, winning the game https://lichess.org/sQNykCQh

I arrived late to an online 5+0 tournament, and still played one of the best tournaments I've played. I played 5 games. I won 4, and drew 1. My tournament performance was 2369 even though I'm actually rated about 2050 at the moment! The highlight was checkmating a 2351 rated opponent after navigating a tricky middle and endgame! Here's the game: https://lichess.org/evewpuIS/black and here's the tournament overview (I ranked #32): https://lichess.org/tournament/v8ON3qAs

I just checkmate an international master in bullet: https://lichess.org/o53knhGn/black I tricked him into taking my bishop, opening up the b-file where I had already prepared my queen and rook battery.

I played against a good friend of mine (we've played now over a 1000 games against each other) and for first time I needed to know the knight and bishop checkmate technique. Sadly I didn't, and after some wild scrambling on my part, we agreed to a draw https://lichess.org/5U1ChluW

The first time I checkmated a titled player in blitz chess: https://lichess.org/Tmg0we0F It happened yesterday when I was playing in a 5+0 blitz tournament and won 5 games in a row, including vs this 2338 rated Candidate Master! I don't know what possessed me yesterday, but I played a great game! I had 96% accuracy and my opponent had 91% accuracy. I managed to win his knight, then his rook, and then his other rook! He didn't resign, but I managed to checkmate him.

Wow my blitz play is really improving. I just played my best blitz tournament, finishing 7th out of 113 participants. I also have my highest blitz rating ever at the moment! https://lichess.org/tournament/WFI5LcZE I didn't think the tournament would go so well after blundering my queen in my second game vs an opponent rated 200 points lower than me. But I stayed focused and had fun

I thought this was an interesting game where I kept attacking and attacking and my opponent kept defending my threats almost flawlessly til he didn't 1. e4, e5 2. Bc4, d6 3. d4, exd4 4. Qxd4, Qf6 My opponent started kinda weird, normally you'd play Nc6 to gain a tempo... I didn't wanna trade queens so early after the bishop's opening, so 5. Qe3, Nc6 6. Nf3 (here I was thinking he'd treaten my bishop with the other knight, almost forcing me to lose the B pair, with this move I add an attacker on e5, so I could push e5 if he removed the knight from there. Also... There is an obvious threat on f7) ..., h6 (defending the threat) 7. O-O, Be7 8. Nc3 (this move prepares Nd5, threatening the queen and a fork on c7) ..., Nb4 (the opponent sees it and does a counterthreat of his own) 9. Bb3, c6 (now he closes my opportunity of playing Nd5 for sure) 10. a3, Nb6 11. Re1, Qg6 12. e5, Nc5 I was surprised by this move, at this point I wanted to clear the e file since I have a R+Q battery, but I was afraid that after the pawn push he'd play d5, which closes my B diagonal and doesn't clear the file, at that point I'd probably have to sac the e pawn and I was ready for it, but then he didn't do any of that 13. exd6, Qxd6 At this point I was really betting on bringing the f3 knight to e5 to do a double on f7, but his knight is threatening my bishop, so I figured Ne4 would threaten his queen and force a trade of my passive knight and his annoying one 14. Ne4, Nxe4 15. Qxe4, Bd7 I stitll didn't give up on attacking f7 with the B+N, so I tried to remove that annoying queen from that square: 16. Bf4, Qf6 at this point I saw that I still couldn't attack f7 with the knight because he could simply play Be6 protecting everything, so I added a piece to the attack setting up for an exchange sac if needed 17. Rad1, O-O-O and then... he castled long 18. Qe3. This threatens the a pawn followed by mate, I just wanted to weaken his queenside ..., b6 19. Nf5 (finally!), Bc5 20. Qg3, g5 21. Be3, Bxe3 22. Rxe3 (the opponent keeps distracting me from the f7 pawn, I am always threatening that fork, but I have to deal with his threats first), Ne7 23. Nxf7, Rdf8 24. Nxh8 (I can just take, he doesn't have mate), Rxh8 25. Rde1, Nf5 after all that trouble to win an exchange I go ahead and fall onto a fork of his :3 26. Qe5, Qxe5 27. Rxe5, Nd4 28. h3 (opponent lost on time)

I just played in a blitz tournament organized by Hikaru. The chat informed him about a mysterious 3000+ rated GM "Viih_Sou" who beat Daniel Naroditsky 40-26 by sacking his rook every game. In honor of this ridiculous gambit, Hikaru started a tournament where the opening position of every game is this rook sack move. I found it actually pretty fun to play, and surprisingly had great success playing on either side of the board (white was always sacking the rook in this position). Anyway, out of a total of 293 players, I finished in 8th place, only 5 spots behind Hikaru!
