No doubt King Diamond's style is unique, such as The Candle, Charon & Helloween are good but the rest of the tracks are just average, especially lurking in the dark is bad that really brought down my rating to this album.

ONe thing everyone learned long ago when Godbuster started posting is that one should never ever listen to anything Godbuster says.

There's a post where he calls Accept a "Classic Teutonic Thrash band". Probably one of my favourites. Someone should do a Best Of.

The only non gothic metal band I listen to is King diamond and I love it

Great debut, but not a masterpiece. The songwriting isn't bad, but the band took a huge leap forward after this, lots of fresh ideas presented here, including a horror concept, were perfected on the next four albums. Considering how awesome stuff came out of those ideas, it's no wonder this album also kicks some serious ass.

A album I would have rated average for a long time. Except for Halloween I found most songs to be nothing special (except for the fantastic guitar leads) but it has grown on me, it's not among their best but solid enough and a good groundwork of what's to come. Charon and Dressed in White are among the better tracks here.

Never really get into King Diamond, because of his screaming vocals, but well it was in my teenage days. I remember when me and friend did listen Voodoo in year when it was out or maybe 1999 or 2000 whit my friend and get totally drunk and ate his little brothers next days school lunch and when he asked who did it we told KING DIAMOND did it
Besides that album I tried listen others, never get from his way of singing , MS videos what I think add in eraly 00''s did not helped either. Now its time and first album, not so bad btw.

The three records after the debut are better IMHO.

Still this is a great classic.
