For anyone who's interested, some music professors at the University of Edinburgh are offering a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) on beginning music theory from August 3rd to September 20th on coursera. This is what their coursera page says they're going to go over:

Week 1: Pitches, scales, modes, and chords
Week 2: Keys and intervals
Week 3: Rhythm and form
Week 4: Harmony 1 (functional harmony)
Week 5: Harmony 2 (inversions, cadences, and sequences)
Week 6: Final asssignment
Week 7: Peer review
