Mayhem - Release First Single

You have already read the details regarding Daemon, the new album by Mayhem which is set for release on October 25th via Century Media Records. Now it's time to listen to the first single, entitled "Worthless Abominations Destroyed", and tell us what you think.

The track's composer, Teloch, states: "After teasing you guys for over 6 months, its finally time to show you what we have been up to in the studio this summer. Here's 'Worthless Abominations Destroyed', a track that was made with the intention to have this 'all is lost and hopeless' feeling."

That one's actually great. Looking forward very much to the album.
Also, really dig the drum sound in comparison to Estoteric Warfare.

Yeah, it's honestly kind of mediocre. The drums sound really artificial.

Hmm yeah the drums do sound kinda soft, not bad on a first listen though.

They should go for a different theme, we all know they don't believe in Demons anymore.

I did not think much of the drum sound at all. I felt it suited the album and I could clearly listen to everything, even the bass was very audible.
As for the drums being "artificial", I guess that's true. But the sound of the drums reminds me a bit of A Grand Declaration or Chimera (the later might not be a favorite but I thought its' production was interesting and refreshing).

Attila sounds just the way I expected him to sound: Like a fucking beast. I echo Maco's post: Bring it on!

Attila is really the only thing I dug on this, pretty quality performance as expected. I'm hoping for some more dynamic songwriting in the rest of the album, and that the drum sounds less like it's been programmed with the same beat throughout

I think that's a safe bet. Mayhem are not like say... Watain, that made the mistake of doing an album where almost all songs sound the same in structure (talking about their latest). All Mayhem albums have some tracks that are just pure blast, and also all of them have songs with plenty of intricate songwriting and dynamics.

Well bands often release singles that end up being my least favourite on the album, or not even representative, so I will still look on with intrigue.
