I'll be checking this out as you said everyone should hear this. What bands would you compare it to?

Not sure what bands specifically, but you might be surprised by how melodic it is, especially since they practically went on to become Deathspell Omega. Just a slight warning there

Nice, I read on rateyourmusic that it's melodic. Looking forward to it. Funny that they evolved into DsO.

Listened to it, and it was actually pretty good. I got not only a melodic feel from it, but also at certain points a folk/viking vibe, maybe like Nagelfar, Bathory, or Windir, but only a little. Mostly just straightforward melodic black. And it really is kind of hilarious that this became DsO because it doesn't sound anything like a precursor to DsO.
