Watchtower - No Plans To Reform
All has been quiet in the Watchtower camp over the last four years since they released the EP Concepts Of Math: Book One, which marked their first record of new material in more than two decades. Now according to drummer Rick Colaluca, a reunion of the legendary technical thrash metal band is far from likely, but he has also stated that he doesn't rule out the possibility of regrouping for a tour or finishing up their many-years-in-the-works third album Mathematics.
When asked by a fan on Facebook about the current state of Watchtower, Colaluca commented: "Doubtful that we'll ever reform, but not out of the question. We've had discussions a few times over the past several years about finishing recording "Mathematics" (Concepts of Math Book 1 was about half of the project), but there are a couple of sticking points that we just can't seem to get past. We actually have a good bit of the remaining songs recorded to some degree. We also talked about reforming to tour after "Concepts" was released, but it just never happened. We could never really agree on what we wanted to do and how to prepare for it, which would be a huge task given that we haven't played these songs live in many years. I would like to do some sort of reunion and finish up the recording, but as of right now it doesn't look like it's in the cards to do so."
Initially active from 1982 to 1990, Watchtower released only two full-length studio albums, Energetic Disassembly (1985) and Control And Resistance (1989). The Texas-based outfit reformed in 1999, but have never released any new material other than the Concepts Of Math EP.
