Blinded by Faith is another talented combo from Montreal, characterized by melodies a la Children of Bodom laid on rhythm a la Dimmu Borgir and guitar work between Soilwork and Dark Tranquillity. I am at a loss of words to clarify fully what their music sound like, however, I could write pages to explain how good this album is. This record has no apparent flaws, and a ton of surprising elements, wrapped into a dynamic package. The six-piece ensemble is blessed by a terrific rhythmic section with Julien Marcotte on drums and Vincent Roy on bass guitar; it also features two fantastic guitar players with Daniel Gingras and Pascal Côté. Their singer, Tommy Demers, can rival with the best vocalists around. Meanwhile Danny Émond's keyboards are an integral part of the band's identity.
Despite all the difference influences, at the end of the day, Blinded by Faith remains a Black Metal band. Dimmu Borgir's influences are clear on a track like 'Elite Insight', complete with haunting keys and progressive rhythm and scorching voices. The lyrics, however, are a lot more mature than your average Metal band. Danny Émond and Daniel Gingras did a fantastic job at writing meaningful lyrics about what has been going on in the world in recent years.
Breaking all boundaries between genres, Weapons of Mass Distraction might just be one of 2007 best works whether you consider it a Black Metal album or not. It's been topping my play-list for a while now, and it looks like it will stay there for a long time. Anyone interested in the melodic Black Metal sound should check out this album immediately.

Since you're at a loss for words, for the benefit of others reading I'll have a go: It's clearly Cradle of Flames. Don't be fooled by the "death" and "thrash" tags, if you can't stand that gothenburg bullshit, just don't bother. For what it really is though, it's not too bad

It's good, and its not cradle of flames at all, its metal not pop, better and realer and not commercialized. Is realer a word?

It's just cradle and in flames are gone poppy now, this album seems to be "more real" then that.

this music may seem unhardcore but please if u dont like gothenburg or meloblack metal in general please dont comments because they dont help, comparisons are fine and if a band is influenced by another band thats also fine because pretty much every metal band is influenced by another band in some way so please keap baseless negative comments to yours selves. To the band and the album, very fresh and inspired work with excellent lyrics and complex melodies but also not for the KVLT fans

I love this album. Great musicianship, intelligent lyrics and enough variety to keep things interesting. And it has nothing commercial at all. Another thing I like is this band has its own identity, they don't sound like a copy of other bands, even though we can identify some inluences. Great album of melodic Black Metal. Of course, people who like only raw BM won't like it. Personally, I never get tired of this album.

Who cares about their genre? They kick ass! I personnally hear a lot of Extreme Power in there, yet each song on this album has its own identity so it's hard to put a label on this opus as a whole, exactly as Demonic Tutor said. Some songs are clearly (very) melodic BM, while others are melodeath, either Suomi or Gothenburg style, but there's stuff to please pretty much any Extreme metal fan in there. In the end, every track is at least very good. 9 is maybe a little high for originality, though
