Well, I know that a lot of people don't really like the Blaze Bayley plus Iron Maiden era. It's a bit sad actually because even if "Virtual IX" and "The X Factor" aren't the best albums of the combo, I really believe that they're good albums and nobody can say that Blaze was a bad singer (you like it or not that's all?). After his departure of Maiden, Blaze found the force to follow his steps in the world of music and released some good albums of Heavy Metal. Metal Mind the "DVD label" chose to record his show at the Metal Mania festival and the result is really nice.
I will not talk about the performance of Blaze with Iron Maiden, everybody here know him with the English band but if you don't know his "personal" songs I have to say that it's nice Heavy Metal and that's evidently, not so different than with Maiden. Of course it's not a copy paste of the British combo, there are some differences like the fact that Blaze's Heavy Metal a bit more aggressive than the one of Maiden but even if it's not so famous (everybody know Blaze but the people who can give a name to all his albums aren't legions) it's still really good Heavy in my opinion. During the night at the Metal Mania 2007 Blaze Bayley and his four band mates performed a great show in front of a big and enthusiast crowd. The band played Blaze Bayley's songs but also Maiden's ones like "Virus" or "Sign Of The Cross". It was well played with a Bayley (and his musicians) at the top of his form. No really Blaze Bayley knows how to write cool NWOBHM.
Maybe that I will have to copy paste these words one day, especially when I talk about the production of the Metal Mind DVDs? But things must be known and with Metal Mind you can be sure that you'll have a great DVD (especially with the most recent ones). Great images, perfect sound (5.1) great production with some intelligent plans and of course bonuses, with here two interviews (Blaze and the band) and the video of "Hollow Head". That's not a lot this time but as always the interviews are well done and anyway the general quality of the DVD is good (my only regret maybe that it will become boring to always see the same venue for all the MM's DVDs?) and the concert is great so you don't really need anything else.
If you want to listen to Iron Maiden songs performed by Mr Bayley himself and of course if you want to listen to again (or just discover) his own songs, please buy this DVD. Definitely this is a classy release and it's also the confirmation that Bayley is a great frontman and that he deserves to be known without Iron Maiden. If you want some top-notch Heavy Metal "Alive In Poland" is a must! Don't miss it!
