I always thought this album was just regular pop and didn't bother to check it out. But boy, how wrong I was. Dance is very much pop indeed, but it's also one of Numan's most experimental albums, a kind of bold arty minimalistic output with loads of synths, drum machines, great details and use of silence. Numan didn't even try appeal to anyone here but create and explore some whole new grounds. It probably wasn't a smart move career and business wise, but it sure was ballsy and admirable thing to do. This is another great album.

Again one of those things that make zero sense. We don't have Hawkwind, Aldo Nova, Moxy, Finger Eleven, (insert hundreds of hard rock, proto-metal, alt-metal or straight up heavy metal bands) but hey, we have Gary Numan.

Numan did release one or two albums in the early 2000's that sounded kind of "metalish", so I guess that counts. Most of his stuff is synth rock.

but hey, we have Gary Numan.

Never understood that, either.

I've now seen many such profiles slowly crawling back and added to MS database knowingly you won't have a fanbase here. To be honest, not many would be interested in these profiles. I foresee a day when Taylor Swift's discography will have ratings here.

Maybe he should not be on MS (his band profile is invisible anyway), but his music was quite influential for what would become industrial music and gothic rock.
