Anciients were a band that stuck around just long enough to leave people desperate for more from them before suddenly disappearing; at long last, they’re finally back.

I'm sold on the sensational cover-art which is another masterpiece by the great Adam Burke. I still have to listen to the music though.

Edit: It's a pretty good album, and it reminds me a lot of early Opeth. Obviously it's not the easiest to fully digest straight away, and there's occasions where it does feel like a lot of progressive noodling but the songwriting is generally very tight, and there's some great solo's and compositions to be heard throughout. The instrumental "Candescence", and the last track "In The Absence Of Wisdom" seem to be the highlights for me.

Great album! Actually really took me by surprise, the songwriting is great and there are alot of amazing guitarwork throughout the album!

Celestial Tyrant is my favorite track so far, but overall all the songs are great on this album. Worth checkibg out for any prog fan out there!

Prime Opeth meets Mastodon with a bit of Alice In Chains. Yes, I quite enjoyed it

The cover art is more interesting than the music unfortunately.

I haven't had the chance to sit down with this one yet, but prime Opeth meets Mastodon was exactly how I described their previous album.

The heavy sections are an absolute delight to listen to…but I’m not so convinced about the clean singing parts. Almost…lazy? I don’t remember the previous albums suffering from the same issue. Still a solid album regardless.

Probably cover art of the year for me.

Childish for me. Also, "beyond the reach of the sun", can only mean lifeless.

I was awaiting their return with much anticipation and yeah, this rules. The guitar soloing to end "The Torch" is glorious, pure heffy metal.
