Xzoriath is a band with an unusual name, that's for sure, I have no clue of what the word stands for, the band was formed in Linköping, Sweden in 1999, and this is their third demo so far.
5 song demo of this band that could be described as a mix of Black and Death Metal with the main premise which is Gothic Metal, the band is female fronted, and I know what are you thinking right now, "Oh no another female fronted Gothic Metal act playing -Beauty and The Beast- style", that's not so farfetched as you might thing, but the whole story has a twist.

The so called "Beauty And The Beast" is manly Gothic Metal, with enchanting female vocals, coupled by some growls, commonly done by a male singer. This time the main woman of the band, Eva Heinaste, turned the tables, and she handles both growls and the female vocals, which by the way, are opera-style.

When Eva growls, is hard to tell whether she's a woman or a man, but when she does some clear singing, the operatic vocals enchant the listener with it's beauty.
The music is mostly mid-paced songs with some classical influences here and there, some strings like violin can be heard once in a while, the whole music has a melancholic vibe to it.

Sadly, the production leaves much to be desired, the sound is very rudimentary, while not totally unbearable, could be improved to create a better effect in the listener, the presentation and the awful cover art could be improved also.
Word is that Xzoriath is working on their third Demo, hope that they look out for those details, that might appear unimportant, but trust me, they are.
