Even come from Italy and plays heavy metal. The particularity of this band come from its music which sound even if we are in 2004 more like the one of the bands of the 80's than anything else. If you like, Hair metal, and Melodic Heavy Metal, I'm sure that "Think Before Speaking" could be interesting for you. Now let see all that we could find in the first album of the combo?

The music of Even is clearly oriented in the lines of the music of the 80's. If you like "old" Heavy Metal and more particularly Hair Metal, I'm sure that you could like "Think Before Speaking". With a ton of great guitars solo for a music more than melodic all that in general with middle tempo, a good singer and of course good melodies, we can find some interesting songs in this album. There is for example some keyboards on some songs like "IX" could remind me Europe with their particularly "oldie" sound. In this album, you could find basic melodic Hard Rock songs, but also some great ballads like "Don't Rely On Me".
The songs are well done, but not very original however and it miss something in the music. This is not really punchy, and at the end it can be a bit boring I think. That's the only real problem of the cd, this is honest but not really catchy due to this lack of "power" in the music. With more punch in their future compositions, I'm sure that the music of this band could be really catchy.
The production of the cd is not bad but not really perfect too, sometime the sound is not very clear. I don't say that we can't hear anything, at the opposite, but sometime it could be a bit more clean. But however it's not a big deal and this is really correct for me.
"Think Before Speaking" is a good and honest album but the band just need to be more sure of it music, because they really have a lot of abilities to do good songs, they just need [and it will come without any doubt with time and musical maturity] to show us that they can do powerful songs, and I don't talk about to do Power Metal or something like that, but just music that gets you in the guts, and it's possible I'm sure of it, and remember this is only the first album of the band?

For a first album this is maybe not perfect but in general the good points are more numerous than the bad ones. I say it again but with time and maturity Even could do something more than interesting. "Think Before Speaking" is a good and promising first album however and they just need now to be sure that they have the possibilities to do something great, and in my opinion, they have its.
