The set of dynamics and the perfect realisation of these along with the good song writing is what make Blasphemy Made Flesh such a maddening and bloody good album. Cryptopsy's song writing and performance is of a sickness unmatched by most bands and probably all of the contemporary brutal acts to this day. We all know brutal death metal is an acquired taste and our Canadian fellows here take all the elements that make this genre appealing and leave out all the pointless misconceptions that the genre built up throughout the years. The band's debut is just oozing with evil, brutality and attitude.

Throughout this 10 song assault, the guitarists unleash the macabre and punishing grooves that set the vibe and backbone of the songs. Interspersed with the heavy and compelling groove driven sections are the bits of raw energy having the guitars swirling in tremolo picking fashion bringing out the aggression and madness of the album. The bass is like the red wine and garlic marinade on your 40 ounce medium rare steak. Its twangy sound and virtuoso playing really give an extra kick to the record's feel. The pummelling drums backed by none other than Flo Mounier pounding away with style make this record that much more impressive. And for the hell of it, why not top it off with the growls of Lord Worm. This is an album you can really sink your teeth into and rip a chunk out of.

Blasphemy Made Flesh delivers all the nauseating goods of what this subgenre is most prominently renowned for. It is an album of heights that few others can reach up to in brutal death metal. While most bands of the genre today have the tight execution and the brutality hand in hand, Cryptopsy have the song writing skills and the underlying evil along with that. If some of you are left thinking that the scene is lacking something these days, approach that pile of bones and rotten flesh, dig deep until you find the living corpse and snatch that album from his left palm. By the time you will have listened to the whole 40 minutes of this punishing and commanding record, that body beneath the pile of remains will have been putrefied.
