1. Omnium Gatherum - New World Shadows
Melodeath. Monumental
2. Ghost Brigade - Until Fear No Longer Defines Us Melancholic Sludge/post-grunge. Good-a little bit below its predecessor
3. Junius - Reports From The Threshold Of Death
Post-metal. More direct this time. Coldplay meets Deftones w/xtra guitar wall
4. Black Sun Aeon - Blacklight Deliverance
Solid atmospheric up tempo doom-death from the prolific Suomi
5. Mastodon - The Hunter
Nowhere near the ingenious Crack the skye- but good nevertheless
6. Mechina - Conqueror
Cyber Metal
7. Xerath - II
Complex orchestral metal. Accomplished and rewarding
8. Suidakra - Book Of Dowth
German celts with power
9. Obscura - Omnivium
The best album of the new death
10. Septicflesh - The Great Mass
Symphonic Death. Nihilism and perfectionism, but I can't quite digest it as well as Communion
11. A Pale Horse Named Death - And Hell Will Follow Me
Type O meets Alice in chains, nice trip down memory lane
12. Chthonic - Takasago Army
Oriental Extreme metal.
13. Falloch - Where Distant Spirits Remain
Folk-Metalgaze. Nicely weaved atmosphere
14. Insomnium - One For Sorrow
Disappointed.. Undeniably good, but doesn't grab hold. Production a bit muddy.
15. Korn - The Path Of Totality
This may seem like a joke. My first Korn listen in ten years. Well-produced and cathcy.
16. Threat Signal - Threat Signal
A good step up from the whimpy Vigilance
17. Bjørk - Biophilia
Very diverse, from genious to mad, but at worst interesting
