TRied to take a picture of the bluetongue in front of the fridge outside, and it started hissing at me and ran under the fridge. didn't seem to like the sounds the phone makes when taking photos
damn, you should never describe the concert you've gone since I would be jealous of you. Never went to any concert and I don't think that I would be able to go in the next two years
anyway, I had read that review before. IMO death metal is not present in agalloch's sound. I actually like some of reviews of that reviewer but definitely do not agree with what he had said there
Never as in... not a single concert in your whole life? If that the case, then wow... it must really suck to never have any gigs there in Iran. I definitely don't go to a ton of concerts either (unlike Marcel for example, who has like 100 concerts each year ), but I have seen quite a few bands, especially due to going to Graspop two times (2006 and 2007) so I've seen loads of bands there and most of them were very famous (Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Ozzy, Aerosmith, Guns 'n Roses, Cannibal Corpse, Type O Negative (yes, while I'm not a fan, I'm glad to have seen them when Peter Steele was still alive) etc.). This year is probably my record with 6 (maybe more) concerts, although compared to some that might not be a lot at all. Anyway, so it seems we agree on Agalloch's genre then. Lastly, just want to point out it's amazing to see John Haughm perform live, as he really impressed me.

you continue to describe some concerts you've gone. damn you
well, actually there are concerts in Iran, but they are mostly on traditional Persian music ( which I respect a lot but am not much into) and pop. Rock concerts are extremely rare. There has been some metal underground concerts here but they were illegal. Moreover, concerts are extremly expensive for me.
oh I had forgotten this: I am going to a hard rock concert this month. My friend bought two tickets for himself and his girlfriend to be but they actually broke up and he invited me to attend the concert. I am super excited about this

Haha sorry about that, I couldn't resist not typing all that. Most of what you describe there wouldn't be my cup of tea, not even rock concerts. But I guess it's better than having no concerts at all (I wouldn't know). Anyway, have fun at the concert this month.
Even if I didn't like them... I can be cold-blooded enough to see why people will like them. It's a very interesting combination of psychedelic Black Metal with the odd krautrock vibe going on and the very catchy, bassy and spacey sounds. That kind of combination will definitely interest a lot of people.

I respect how daring and brave they are, but their songwrting is not that interesting. Maybe you are right and my previous statement was not fair. OP is a band I must enjoy in theory but I really don't know what's missing from their ingredients. Their songs sound like long intros but for me, the actual music does not start at all.
Btw, which ones you think are inferior to OP's debut?
Let's see...
Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors
Blut Aus Nord - MoRT (Love The Work Which Transforms God and even the EP following it, but this is just unbelievably dull)
Glorior Belli - Manifesting The Raging Beast (I prefer these guys when they're southern-fried and not DsO clones)
N.K.V.D. - Vlast
P.H.O.B.O.S. - An?dipal (Likewise, I prefer the one following this)

َRegarding Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors, well I have not listened to it in a while and I agree that it might not be that great. Still love it, but I've noticed that I'm becoming gradually less interested in it.
I agree that Manifesting The Raging Beast resembles DsO, but I love how it is somehow simpler than most of modern DsO, thus differentiating itself from DsO's albums.
MoRT is beyound amazing, my only complain about it is that it's too short. I can see why some people might not enjoy it.
Vlast was the album that made me interested in black metal as a genre, along with BaN's TWWTF and an album from gnaw their tongues. Before vlast, I had listened to some black metal bands and loved them (like agalloch and Arcturus) but was not into more intense formms of BM and those albums I could enjoy from black metal genre were some expectations .Vlast still gets a couple of spins every week.
Finally, An?dipal is the best album I checked in 2013. Now I consider is as one of my top 10 records, and I've given it a 10. Like MoRT, I can say that it's too short (about 55 minuets I guess). I could be much happier if it was as long as Esoteric's TMV.
Well, if you don't care for Oranssi Pazuzu, maybe I can rec:
Leviathan - Massive Conspiracy Against All Life (From Wrest, very Lurker at points, but mostly pure black)
Funeral Mist - Salvation (It's basically kvlt black, but good.)
Watain - Lawless Darkness (Pseudo-kvlt, if that makes sense)
Sun Of The Blind - Skullreader (Darkspace-style with the same members)
Kveletak - Kveletak
Thorns - Thorns (Nice, semi-industrial, psycho black)
Chaos Moon - Langour Into Echoes, Beyond (If you dig ambient stuff, you'll dig this, I'm sure)
Peste Noire - La Sanie Des Siècles - Panégyrique De La Dégénérescence
The Axis Of Perdition - The Ichneumon Method (And Less Welcome Techniques)

Not a fan of Chaos Moon. Also, the last time I checked Leviathan did not click for me and so is watin. Funeral Mist and Thorns are very good but I need to re-listen to them. Regarding Peste Noire, well I'm not sure if I've ever listened to them. Also, I have one The Axis Of Perdition album here. DSfTH is better than their debut. The production of their debut at some points puts me off.
Sun Of The Blind are also good, but I really don't think that I'd be adding them
Finally, I just once heard Kveletak and don't remember much from it. Will definitely check it out.
Thanks for recs
You didn't like Massive Conspiracy Against All Life? That album should be practically catered for you. Failing that check out Silhouette In Splinters. It's totally different from his other stuff. Not metal, some bizarre / slash guitar-soundscape type affair. His best release in my opinion.
Hey, what's the name of that black metal band you said it was a De Magia Veterum worship, which had some girls doing sort of a satanic orgy as the cover art?

You mean this ?
What a retarded name and shitty stupid cover, music is not that bad, though.
This list definitely highlights how stupidly ahead of its time Ved Buens Ende's album was, being the only album on this list from before 2000 (way before in fact) but fitting perfectly within its theme.

Agreed, that album is definitely one of the most avantgarde avantgarde metal albums I've ever heard. It's not only influential and original, but I'd also call it legendary. Kinda sad that it does not get enough recognization, considering how it pretty much defined the ground for DsO and the whole trend of bands taking influence from modern DsO.
Also, it is not only ahead of its time, it's damn well written and well played.
