The lead melodies are TRIPPY!! this is probably my favourite Amorphis album, which I proudly own
......hmmmm I think I may have misplaced it somewhere around the house though.

I just recently bought a copy of this album, and I have to say that it now claims the title for Favorite Amorphis Album. I personally think it's their most diverse and captivating album to date, and a big leap to take after the great Tales from the Thousand Lakes, that was pulled off successfully (to the point in which I say that Elegy is superior to its predecessor). Long Live Amorphis!

It's not quite my favorite Amorphis album (Skyforger is), but there are so many moments on this album that make this a classic for me. I believe this album is their most balanced when it comes to the amount of clean vocals and growls, really awesome stuff.

Amazing! I love this album.

And this is how new amorphis born..... I cant judge this one, its werry hard to do it, I like it but same time its popsy, electronical I dont know, not such kind metal then previusly, but still its good, album has story and soul .... but best song is ''accustic reprise'' )) of electronical

The last minute of "The Song of the Troubled One" is the best music Amorphis has ever written.

That's Koskinen. He has quite a varied delivery (if you think about "Greed" off Tuonela it should make sense)

And yeah, progressive folk metal should be added. Not that much pure melodeath left on this record but some.

Good, but disappointing for someone discovering Amorphis's catalogue. Definitely one of their weaker releases.

This album never puts a lot of tension on him one day I said that I will listen to this album and I really liked it very much, very good

Why is that? I strongly disagree. Second best Amorphis release for me, after Tales, and pretty much at par with Red Cloud.
I mean, Elegy should be compatible with basically everyone: Those who prefer early Amorphis (Tales) and those who rather go for their later work. Because it is their "in between release". Do I make any sense?

I probably need to listen to it again, but I found it quite dreary and unexciting to listen to

Good album, not a fan of the vocals though.

My favorite Amorphis album. Psychedelic Folk/Death Metal, completely unique.

This is one of the few album's by Amorphis I am yet to listen to, but every album I have listened to by them so far have really impressed me, I find their album quality to be very consistent.

This is one of the few album's by Amorphis I am yet to listen to, but every album I have listened to by them so far have really impressed me, I find their album quality to be very consistent.

I listened to most of their other highly-rated albums before this one and found it disappointing. Hopefully you don't have the same experience!

My favourite has always been Tales From The Thousand Lakes, but their later albums I find just as impressive, hopefully this one won't dissapoint me too much.

YES!
I haven't listened to this album for 3 months but suddenly the intro oriental melody to "Better Unborn" randomly showed up in my brain. I had it stuck in my head for so long as I tried to figure out where I heard that amazing riff before... and now I've found it!
Somehow when I listened to Tales from the Thousand Lakes my subconsciousness remembered Elegy's opening melody even though I didn't consciously make that connection!
I guess it must be a divine sign that I have to listen to this album again...
