Listened to this again after a decade or something. Still really good folk, with cool guitar work and melodies, Jonne actually knows how to sing instead of sounding like a drunkard stumbling out a bar at 2am (like in korpiklaani).
Cant stand folk metal nowadays (so many stupid "party" bands) but this kind of folk metal is actually nice.

This is pure folk metal, heart and soul.

The album has a lot great writing and blends everything together really well. I prefer their album Idja a little more but there is still plenty to love here. The first song is a true artistic progressive and atmospheric masterpiece if ever I heard one.

It makes me sad to think about everything we got after this under the Korpiklaani name because there was something quite different and magical in Shaman. Hearing an early version of Beer Beer (Vuola Làvlla) just helps to cement that feeling because they could have incorporated much more than just that into their future sound.
