Even though both "melodic death metal" and "melodic black metal" are genre tags that get used fairly often, the former is pretty well-established as a separate genre, to the point where you'd get scoffed at for calling Insomnium a "death metal band" but not a "melodic death metal band". The distinctions between "melodic black metal" and "black metal" are a bit muddier, but Inexorum try to make them a bit clearer. Read more ›› |

It's a decent release, but not a great one tbh, there's some very strong catchy riff melodies, especially on the title track, which is the only real highlight of the album for me, the rest of the tracks are just ok to me. It was quite a surprise for me when I first heard the clean vocals, it gave me some Windir vibes, but other than that nothing else really stands out.

I would go for pagan, at times even folky rather than black, but then its just a description, the music is good though.
