Damn this album is so much fun! It took me by surprise totally, because it’s one of the very few cases in recent years where I kind of blindly played a Spotify recommandation. And what a surprise. For the first few minutes I thought I was going to be served an elegant symphonic metal album, then it actually quickly became agressive, death metal came calling. Pretty much on the brutal side, and the elegance wasn’t so much a feature. Finally come some grind core elements that I was definitely not expecting at that point. But there’s so much more in there.

This album features many guests from the french scene and abroad, and what I find lovely is that they didn’t just add a singer to a track of theirs, they really composed with them. Or so I think considering most tracks are quite different from each other, embracing to some extent the guest’s universe, while keeping a certain coherence throughout.

Overall rooted in brutal death, the album is extremely groovy. The drummer blasts the kit only now and then, and never too long. Instead there’s lots of double kick play and interesting grooves.

One point I don’t know how I feel about, is that they are seemingly more on the parody / fun side. I usually don’t enjoy that all that much, but here it’s only in the lyrics, the music is 100% serious. And the one track I checked the lyrics for was actually funny so I’m fine with it I guess.

This is probably one my favourite brutal death albums ever already, do yourselves a favour and try this if you’ve never liked brutal death but are curious about it. This is more digestible than most albums in the scene imo.

Favourite track: “Sedition Charges” which is just a big slap in the face.
