Godthrymm is a fairly new band, featuring former My Dying Bride members, Hamish Glencross (guitars/vocals) and Shaun Taylor-Steels (drums). The band’s debut, Reflections, was very well received by the doom crowd, and said doom crowd was eagerly anticipating the follow-up. Distortions is the second part of Glencross’s Visions trilogy (the third part, Projections, is already in the works), and it very much lives up to expectations.

Such a powerful and emotive doom metal release this, with an excellent melancholic sound and structure, and the vocals are astonishingly good. It is quite lengthy but when in the right mood it can really touch your poor retched soul if you allow it to. I highly recommend this if your into My Dying Bride.

I remember being fairly unimpressed by the debut, but I actually liked this quite a bit for a straight doom album - the gothic tinges were nice, and I swear there were a couple of stonerish riffs in there too

Good solid doom metal, slow, moarnful, mix between male n female vocals. Even it 1h long, still damn good.

Sleeper doom hit of the year with this one. An amazing fusion of what I can only explain as sludge and doom, with a ton of unexpected vocal moments, crushing riffs, and a melancholic atmosphere. Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains meets My Dying Bride. REALLY unique stuff.

Some nice heavy moments but overall I don't feel the greatness, similarly to the debut. The outros on this record are annoying as fuck btw, surely there's a better way of ending a song than feedback every single fucking time. Ugh.

This album is fabulous.

It's on the long side, so admittedly, I tend to play half at a time, but headphones on, head back with eyes closed, it sounds fabulous.

They're playing my home town Friday night and I'm really looking forward to it.
