I think I'd probably heard of the name Corrupted before, but I hadn't listened to them before - skimming through Lucas' glowing reviews of their older albums, this new relese does seem to have a similarly sinister and eerie vibe, but if those were sludge doom, this is more sludgy ambient/drone. Underlying droning distortion, atmospheric reverberating toms steadily pounding along, and a lot of demented spoken word, screams and other vocals on top. It's peculiar, but it's compelling

Just listened to it now - I wonder if 20 years of other bands doing similar stuff since has dampened the impact. It's pretty good, but the drawn-out droning sludge doom (which can be a bit more melodic at times) doesn't draw me in like how the creepiness of this new EP does

Really enjoying this. Would love to see a full length album with the same vocalist.

Maybe trying Garten der Unbewusstheit is a better starting point as it is more straightforward and varied. It still maintains the edge of their sound but is more forgiving and doesn't require dedicating 1 hour to be rewarding. I'm not dissing El Mundo Frio, it remains their masterpiece but I can't listen to it as often as Garten der Unbewusstheit.
