After the 1984-1985 "Last Command" tour, guitarist Randy Piper quits and Blackie Lawless puts the bass down and takes up rhythm guitar and vocals. Perhaps it is Randy Pipers departure, or just coincidence that this album is just plain weak next to the two previous albums.

Don't let the previous statement fool you, this album is not completely terrible. The intro "The Big Welcome" flows perfectly into the title track which gives the impression that the album is going to be a solid one. The title track is then followed by two tracks that are classic W.A.S.P. tracks sure to please; but after the catchy "9.5-N.A.S.T.Y" finishes the whole album just seems to fall into a void of filler track after filler track. Thankfully enough there are a few breaks of great songs between the fillers, for example, the out-of-character Deep Purple-esque track "Easy Living" which includes W.A.S.P's first use of an organ (or keyboards for that matter), then followed by the semi-memorable "Sweet Cheetah" but that's the final solid song until the end of the album.

With the exception of the abysmal "Helldorado", this is the worst W.A.S.P. album. "I'm Alive" and the title track are the only songs on this album I love. Amazing to think they went from this straight to "The Headless Children". lol

@Raven: To rate, simply click on the blue box with "rate" on it, which is under the picture of the album cover.

I thik the reason why this album is not as widely hailed as the previous two albums is that the songs are just not as driving or indeed reckless as, say, on their debut album. On 'W.A.S.P.' you had 'Animal (Fuck like a beast)', however on this album you have, well, the title track. Needless to say, i found this album pretty good to listen to. Blackie's vocals are still awesome.

Another boring day for W.A.S.P. in the office, no passion but it is tolerable. Largely forgetful songs and the album feels too long. Douche bag blues is what W.A.S.P. were ailing from while recording this album.

You are not metal enough until you visit Kenya. The cradle of mankind, where man learnt first to work with stones and first enjoyed the sounds produced by banging stones which later influenced metal in all its sounds and genres.

I didn't know I Don't Need No Doctor was a Ray Charles cover, I thought it was a Humble Pie cover. Well, WASP played it like a Humble Pie cover anyway.

I've long thought it was orginally Ray Charles but the original is slightly older I recently found out. Here's the first version:

it's one of those albums with a great song (title track) and the rest being rather forgettable.
