"Descend" is the new album of the Finish dudes of My Shameful. If you were into that band before this new release, I must tell you that you'll maybe be a bit disturbed by their new sound. Now, My Shameful is definitely more "Metal" and after all that's probably not a bad thing.

If on the previous album of the band, "The Return To Nothing", it was possible to hear keyboards, cellos and even some female vocals sometime, it will be totally different on the new album of My Shameful. Definitely the band tried to become more "true" if I can use this word and they have managed to do it. On "Descend", the music of My Shameful is a lot more basic and simple which doesn't mean that the band publishes something bad or easy, no My Shameful now plays something which can be compared to the old My Dying Bride or even to the old Paradise Lost (without its speed of course) if we talk about Death Metal and Gothic stuff. This is real Doom Death Metal, this is really slow and dark, but also really conventional. Really the songs of this new album are all more than correct but I cannot say that we're swimming in the pool of originality here. One more time we're in front of a good album of Doom Metal but which is totally common and at thousands miles of Mar De Grises's music for example. Sure if you like Doom Death Metal you'll like to listen to "Descend" but if you're looking for originality don't expect anything special with this release.
